graeme - it used to be but it all got ripped off. i would love to have it ceramic coated but just cant afford it atm.
abit of an update on the engine situation, i picked up my engine this morning from the engineers, and all the bits to go with it. i dunno wheather to try and clean up the block and repaint it cause its gone shitty or not bother and get it build back up? i'll get some progress pics tomorrow when i start to rebuild it. ive been having a few days break from cars lol

update 19.03.2008 - ENGINE REBUILT
i managed to get my engine block completely rebuilt yesterday but as normal things never go too well. i got everything built up and spot on, put the head on, tightened the headbolts the 1st 25nm, then 90deg then another 90deg but on the last bolt of the 2nd stretch, it suddenly went loose and pulled the thread out of the block.
this morning i took the block to the engineers again who kindly drilled out the old thread, retapped it and fitted a helicoil for me. i havent get tried again to fit the head cause its pissin it down outside atm.
any ways, heres some pics
stripped thread

really makes me want a corsa to strip and rebuild; tempted by a 1.0 litre, strip the interior, exterior as standard as possible with a 2.0 litre but no facilities really to rebuild the motor, etc. Ahh yes helicoils, saved me once before at work.

I'd be fed up with having to rebuild an engine so often. What's the reason behind you constantly rebuilding? Is it just because of more power than was intended for the engine?

end of the day its an 18yr old engine thats never had new pistons fitted or been rebored, and the bores finally gave up. rebore and new oversized pistons should sort that
