Yeah thoughtso, tbh I think I'd only fit the boot lock one, I use the drivers one when I forget to put the windows up

been having coolant leaking problems for 2 weeks now. asked a few guys in work who repair the engines and they all said it was most likely the thermostat housing/gasket buggered.

my dad had some free time today so he got to work on removing the original and replacing it with a Wahler one i bought from eurocarparts (at just over half the price of a genuine bmw one).

no pictures as it was lightly snowing but in the end we figured it was most likely the gasket at fault as it looked way past it's best.

decided to replace the thermostat and housing anyway and it doesn't seem to be leaking any more

total cost:

£45.90 for thermostat housing.
£5.90 for a bmw gasket i didn't end up using.
£10.75 for bmw coolant.

another guy on the z4 forum paid an independent garage £259 to replace his, so i've saved near enough £200 due to my dad

also, caught my front bumper the other day whilst coming out of the local shop car park (the whole area is raised up from the road) and snapped the o/s bumper bracket.

it was already broken from when i was doing the clear indicator conversion, but it was holding well. now i definitely need a new one

and got yet another windscreen fitted last week, after the rubber trim had split around the edge. that's the 4th windscreen that's been in the car in the last 12 months now!

before (pattern part trim used):

done (genuine trim used):

Tut bad driver!
Glad you managed to fix it on the cheap, you don't like your list of jobs to get too low do you, fix one thing break another

My rear spacers are on btw, somehow feels nicer to drive with them on :s

cars approaching 10 years old and has 77k miles on now, so it's to be expected really.

the 2 rear tyres are almost down to the markers so they need replacing. got no confidence in the back end with them.

my job list is going down gradually i want to get the interior aluminium painted body colour, just waiting for a mate at work to get over a hand injury.

the spacers do make the car ride better. just feels more stable. very weird

Haha true, mines on 65 just gave it a quick wash and debadged the rear, looks loads better but the 2 points on the badges have damaged the paint, my guess is the previous owners shut the boot by pressing down on the badges shoving them into the paintwork.

Thought you had just replaced the rear tyres, mine are just above the German markers on the rear, loads left on the front

Has your car got the brushed metal dash like mine? Rough to the touch?

I replaced a front tyre, rear tyres have been on about 15k miles, so not too bad really.

Yeah i've got the metal dash also. Needs filling before painting and it's scratched in a few places.

You recon them vredestien tyres will last as long? I'm thinking of getting them when mine are goosed.

My dash only has one tiny scratch on it which doesn't bother me. Centre console ain't too bad either, bit under the handbrake is abit worn though

I didn't think it was too bad either, but I'm going to look around anyways. Least I have a base figure so everything else should be less.

Tbh they don't do much other than change filters and oil do they?

Not really, just a quick look around the car and stamp the service book

Mine gave me a sheet noting the brake pad/disc wear as a percentage, tyre depths and issues with the car.

They could give you any percentage figure and you would just believe it really lol
Want mine servicing soon so I know it's been done. It's only doing very short journeys so it's starting to have a slight blue tinge to the smoke. Blew it off earlier with a nice warm spirited run down the motorway.
So I want to make sure everything's tip top. Don't fancy another engine rebuild this year ideally lol

Cheaper than a new z4m bumper, thats for sure

On the lookout for some cheapish facelift rear lights, but they seem rather rare.

yeah, either facelift normal or an ///M rear, to go with my ///M front.

my bodge job on the headlamp washer has gave way and i now have no windscreen washer fluid think i'll need to shell out for a new one, rather than attempt to bodge it again.
