Nah it's just some oil venting thing thats blocked, called a CCV. When it's blocked it burns it off rather than reuses it.

Did away with mine and fitted an oil catch can, worth it imo, stops that oil going into the inlet etc

Unless you're on VXROnline, then it would be fraud and make you a very bad person.

Just had the E46 back from the body shop - had rear n/s 3/4 panel resprayed where a courier reversed down the side and drove off, both front arches resprayed as they were just beginning to bubble slightly so thought I'd catch it early, both mirror and mirror mounts resprayed and a small scab in the boot threshold sorted.

Took amp out old car - working, put it in new car - not working

Probably bad earth or remote behind dashboard come loose. Would the amp still at least show power even if those were bad? There's no lights on at all ffs. Usually you get one light for power, and a different one if there's a problem.

Easy way to check remote is to bridge that from the power instead - after making sure you've actually got power in the cable (check fuse etc).

Chrome osram bulbs in front, side and rear indicators and led osram bulbs in reg plate lights on the new car.

Always annoys me when manufacturers scrimp on bulbs. Orange bulbs in clean lens housings look cack, as do yellow lights.

Didn't know you could do that.

I will check that then and I have checked fuses other than the one on the actual amp... forgot that. I think I'll get my meter on the positive and earth as well to check they're okay.

Wasn't expecting it to work first time, nothing fucking has with this car!

Okay check voltage on positive and earth... the amp is getting a full 12v. Bridged from the positive to remote and hey-presto! Lights started appearing on the amp. Albeit with a strange buzzing noise that fades away after about 5 seconds, but maybe it always does that (obviously never have my ear in the boot when turning the car on!)

I take it you can't just permanently bridge it lol? It's just effort to get behind my dash (lots of things stuck down!)

Out of interest... remote had 8v on it when not bridged is that right?

No that's not right, just attach the remote to any ignition live you can find. Fag lighter in the boot maybe?

Took the Puma out for its last drive as the MOT expires tomorrow.

Either going on the track or will go back on the road in the summer.
