I've been looking at the Cube Crossrace Cyclocross recently, and I'm thinking of treating myself to one after my birthday next week. What would you all say in the minimum I'll need equipment wise? It'll be getting used mainly to help me get fit, random bike rides and hopefully some commuting to work when it's a bit warmer at 6am

Looks a nice bike! The real minimum is a helmet and Lock really. Everything else just makes it easier/comfier/more enjoyable! Gloves, padded shorts, tools etc all help

Nah day off today. I rode out to moors valley as there's a trail there. Unfortunately I didn't take into consideration it's the Easter holidays so I couldn't get a clean lap of the trail as kept coming up behind families that didn't move over straight away

I could have got a strava KoM up a climb by about 14 seconds on Tuesday. Only problem is I stopped to lean my bike against a bench to take a couple of photos before continuing on my way. The end of the strava point was about a foot past the bench

On the comparison, I was 14 seconds ahead of the KoM when I stopped. Ill get it next week some time.

Same happened to me yesterday started off with a climb watching my garmin I could see I was ahead of my best by
miles by over 2mins when I got home plugged it in said i was over a minute slower due to me not passing the end of the climb which is a bench 20ft after where you think the end is.

A few of us have the Endomondo app. It's a really good tracking app and the website allows you to create routes etc

It also seems to tell far less lies than strava does.

Oh right i see but there was one ride you done where it said you hit 48mph on your mtb thats quite hard to believe off road so endomondo isnt perfect .Well I use both all depends on what you use it on I dont think a phone they work as well as using a garmin etc

None of mine say 48 cole? Strava claimed I averaged 33mph over a 11 mile ride to work. Endomondo gets it about 16-17 and also gets the distance correct at 7 miles. Its never going to be totally accurate but it seems a fair wedge better than strava!
