Madrid buying the competition anyone Surely they can't be recouping all this money on shirt sales, given any fans buying shirts are unlikely to buy all 4 major signings
Who are manure gonna buy now
[Edited on 01-07-2009 by Tom]
They will get the money back in just C.Ronaldo shirt sales alone.

He has to sell 2m shirts to do that (that's incremental shirt sales, not counting those who wouldn't have bought one anyway even had he not signed)

Im soooo happy he has gone to Madrid. Really thought he was going to end up at United and I think that may of just about of replaced Ronaldo.
I have no problem with Madrid spending stupid on all these players, they can only play 11 at a time, and even then having 11 world class players on the pitch doesnt mean a world class team.

It's not just shirt sales they boost, it's ticket revenues and better sponsorship deals, you'd be more inclined to invest in a re-invented major European club rather than the Real Madrid of old, they've already secured better deals from Pepsi, Siemens and Adidas.

Not to mention that in Spain they negotiate their own TV rights, and given they are already way above ours in the UK I guess with the stupid amount of world class players they now have they'll negotiate a huge deal.

Re-brand to CR9 and everybody will have to buy the new products to keep looking cool or whatever

If Raul doesn't get 7, Perez and the board will be burned at the stake.

He has shops in Portugal called CR7, its a proper brand now more than just a nickname of sorts like it was for Beckham.

Yes - £80m pound and the CR7 brand is worth more than a club legend is....to Madrid anyway.

Far from it. Raul is more than a club legend he is the best player of the club ever, broken every single record and they will never swap his shirt until he retires. Ronaldo will take the number 9 shirt.

Kaka got his favoured 8 because Cannavaro left and Gago wanted 5.
Bezema takes 9.
Raul switches to 10 CR has his 7 and Sneijder goes to Ajax.

Im sorry, but you are talking about a time in the clubs history where money rules. They havent just spent £80m on Ronaldo for his football talent, they have spent it for brand Ronaldo, for the most popular footballer on the planet today, and with him (almost joined infact 100%) comes brand CR7.
Like I said, its not like the Beckham 7, Ronaldo does actually have real brands, real shops, real products out there in his CR7 livery and I doubt for one minute Real will try to damage that as they attempt to harness his branding and bring in a hige amount of money.
