I have a garmin edge 200 and a dakota 10.
You just upload the gpx files to strava.

More accurate than using the the phone app.
I also use Garmin connect.

Can you import GPX route files into the Edge 200? That's the one I was looking at before you guys mentioned so it looks like a good shout.

I want an edge of some description, ideally 800 but that is £££. Being able to follow routes would be useful, think 800 is only one that allows that? There is supposedly a new one coming out though so I'm going to hold and see if that drops the price of them.

Currently I just use my phone which seems fine most of the time for recording on strava, only problem being battery life. I've managed to do a good 6 hours riding if I turn all the other services off first.

I've always used Sports Tracker, primarily because it was on Symbian and I could transfer across when I got Android.

I've just signed up to Strava and was pleasantly surprised you could import .GPX files and Sports Tracker exports in .GPX. I won't import all.

Keen to use Strava as it is a bit more intelligent e.g. excluding your home so you don't get robbed and matches your route to other people's.

iPhone batteries must he shit, although I've only used Sports Tracker, cause my N8 used to use hardly any battery and One S has plenty left, even after a Wales epic.

Turning off your data or limiting to 3G only will help battery. GPS will plot your route. It will then overlay on the softwares map (Sports Tracker uses Google Maps) when you get good signal of WiFi.

I used to use sports tracker and switched to strava, if you have all the old gpx files you can send them all in one email to a strava address and it will batch upload them all

Anyone know if its possibly to see at what point on your route you hit your top speed on Strava? Just got back infrom 23 mile ride and apparently my top speed was something like 53mph Lolz now I can't for one second believe that apparently it was whilst going down a steep bank and I'd just like to work out where abouts it went funny.

Sports Tracker is always pretty accurate. Has to be especially with walking because you speed rarely varies and you should know what distance you cover by the time you've been out.

Strava it seems defaults to kph not mph. Sure you have it set up right?

Plenty of biking specific ones and they're all much of a muchness really! But you can get one to suit the seasons to prevent your chain clogging up etc!

GT85 is all you ever really need for chains in my opinion. Because I'm riding through mud every ride I'm taking my chain off and cleaning it properly after each ride at the moment

We've always used stuff from Finish Line.

http://www.finishlineusa.com/

Plus then GT85 or TF2 to drive out moisture.

e.g. wash bike with Hope Sh1t Shifter or Muc Off. Spray all moving parts, including mechs, pedals with GT85 or TF2 then coat the chain with a Finish Line lube.
