Bottom end is fine on an XE. GAZ'D car runs a standard bottom end. Think just rod bolts. He running over 300bhp.
Rod bolts, poss uprated pistons, throttle bodies, head work, cams, valve springs, engine management. 200bhp, stripped car, should be good for 250+bhp per tonne.

Of you could just skip the fart arsing around with a LET...
Buy a knackard XE...
Get the oil line tapped in, go straight fro motronic, go straight for a Nissan manifold, big ass turbo (T3 upwards), uprate all the internals while your at it and automatically have a 320+bhp LET whcih has been built up over time. No need for all the dodgy sensors then..

OK custom management then.....
Basically, ditch the standard computer ECU setup in favour for a specific system. Lots of work, but much better power delivery.
If anything, your looking at 400 upwards.

Not for yours, would make it slower overall as the LET's just spin up on track when applying the power mid corner...
Keep going with your XE, it'll get there eventually.
I think you should just take it to Swindon Racing. They done the ex BTCC cars (reverse mounted engines etc). They know their XE's (suprised more haven't gone to them tbh.) Get them to sort the whole car, brake setup etc. Would come back an animal.
