all the c20let has is 1 amal valve.

what are you on about...
Most cars will just need a slight re-map, or boost cut defencor introduced to overide ECU signals to cut the engine over certain boost

but really, an mbc is a bleed valve whichever way you look at it. if you think it isnt, then thats fine.
it really really is just a bleed valve
yes but you could say the same thing about the apexi, just its digital.
yes, i know how the apexi works etc, and i know all it is is a digitally controlled bleed valve. i just dont understand how the mbc isnt a bleed valve??????
cause a mbc doesn't bleed air out like a bleed valve does, reason a mbc is a ball and spring device.

point is... the apexi uses a soleniod to control the desired wastegate pressures... whereas a MBC uses a ball and spring...
as AK has already stated, the solenoid holds more steady boost than a ball and spring...

yes i said in a ealier thread that the c20let still cuts ignition if u try too run more the 12psi with a mbc on a standard ecu but people didnt agree.

i had major boost spike problems using a apexi, but i understand that they are hard too setup and get perfect.

Is this a "bleed"?: No. It is a pressure-controlled device, unlike a bleed. One big disadvantage of a bleed is that the boost signal is always acting on the wastegate as the boost builds. This means that the wastegate is allowing exhaust gas to bypass the turbine at the exact time you need it to be spooling up your turbo. The Basic Boost Controller holds the signal from the wastegate until it reaches the level that you have set. Because of its rapid actuation, "spiking" (momentarily exceeding the boost limit) is almost completely eliminated. Some electronic controller companies actually try to promote spiking as a positive feature, because their controllers cannot react fast enough to accurately control the problem.

right, i get it now.
just a different method of doing the same thing, and also over riding the ecu's control over the boost at the same time. which i should add is also what the phase chips do
yes

hang on, what we didnt agree on was that you said the ecu can cut the boost even without the amal valve connected up, thats what we were on about on the other post. the amal valve is the ecu's only method for controlling boost, and if you remove it, you loose it. nothing about ignition cuts or nothing
ok u proberly wont want too try this but if i told u too put a standard ecu and use the amal valve it will boost cut if u try too run more the 11-12psi, now disconnect the vacuums going too the amal valve and fit a mbc in place it will still boost cut at the same boost level unless you get the ecu chipped.

basically...
Its 80% as good as a 500quid boost controller (DSBC-R), but 100% better than a shite bleed valve..
IT IS NOT THE BEST, but best for those on a budget!

no, not hard to set up at all. teach it the gears, then reduce the duty in higher gears to stop massive boost spikes. quite simple really, and works well. ive used one for 6 months or so now
shame i couldnt get it too work as good.

yes but it still cuts it too save the engine like the amal valve does if you run too much boost, meaning only way too run more boost on a c20let is too have it chipped or mapable management.

theres 2 types of boost cut, 1 when eng light comes on when somthings wrong which IS done by the amal, the other is where you exceed the boost limit which is cut by ignition/ fuel.

i see, so is an ignition/fuel cut then. makes sense.
and yes, totally agree about the chipped ecu/managment. infact going motronic-less is possibly the best bet for the let anyway
yes it is
