No ryan, i was pointing the obvious out to you as your CTR tinted glasses seem to be blurring your vision.
Theres nothing you would do differently in a non vtec car, its just they "go on longer" in the revs. The principal is exactly the same......

Im not sure why Ian is referring to the F16CR as a 'short box' - it has the same ratios as an F20 but is slightly lighter in weight.

because the F16CR has a shorter throw in the gear change than the F20, even though the ratios are the same

16.2 to 100 is not slow and would love to see a 106 GTI standard keep up with them
They are quick cars. 200 BHP in something that weighs 1200 KG is going to be quick

ive raced a few R's in my GT AIIIII and tbh there wasnt alot in it  gotta see it to believe it... oh and you wont believe it with the type r shades on though.

Standard GTi 0-100 is about 21 secs iirc. 4 seconds is a huge amount.

I'm not a fan of the type R so have no reason to promote them
They are quick cars no doubt - My car struglles to get past my mates but mine is a good 250 KG heavier
hence 106 GTI, standard 2.0 Corsa's, VTS are going to struggle to beat one IMO
And yes i have driven his carand he has driven mine with the same results

cant see a Type R thrashing a 2.0 Corsa. Corsa should have it in the bag. more torque, better delivery, lighter car, dont have to stop at Simmons mid-race etc etc

I love the way this thread started as a dig at Type R's "that they are shit" yet you seem to use it as a bench mark on the performance of your Corsa get a grip.
Also a like for like moddified car I.E. A chipped Corsa against a chipped Type R would have been a fair race, also would be nice to have a proper driver behind both cars.
So over all this thread is a load of bollox and a waste of all your time arguing IMO IIRC

Love to see a chipped Type r as you need to piggy back the ECU which isn't cheap and increase in power is minimal - Supercharging the CTR is the way forward

180bhp + 850-900kg odd (stripped), you should just have it (weight doesn't relly effect top end).
Also, the XEV engine is 136bhp, but with a filter and exhaust, many have been seeing a true 140-145bhp... Thats nearly redtop territory. Chances are it has less miles and runs better than most XE's as well
