It's not all sorted yet

Still to do:-
Fit indicators
Plate over boot floor
Fit rear bumper
Get tax
Fit tyres and wheels
Spanner check everything
Oil and filter change
Bed the brakes in (and hope that they work )

Yeah I've definately been a bit jammy I reckon. I was gutted when I first spotted the 'scores'. I was on the phone to Lee Hersey describing the damage and rubbed them away with my finger He's bringing me a valve to castle combe too

Another bonus is that you now know the lifters weren't the issue too

What's your metal triangle thing on the rocker cover for?

Edit - and why haven't you drilled holes in it yet?

I'm still thinking it was the lifter that caused the breakage and ensuing bending of the valve, I forgot to single out the lifter when I removed them so I'll check em all next time I'm at the workshop.

The metal triangle is a stop for the throttle cable, which comes up vertically between bodies 2 and 3. I had engraved dh into it so didn't wanna drill it, but you're right - function over form - I'l get drilling

what you doing with the piston?

Will they grind/polish off, or fitting a new one?

Looks like a luckier version of mine

i had about 12mm of valve stem chewed up between head/pisgton. Any head damage? valve seats etc?

I'll get the piston up to TDC and check / remove any burrs that may be there. It al looks good to be fair, there is some slight pitting of the head due to some chunks of metal lol, but nothing bad really. Just fairly lucky I guess
