Previous owner of my car polished it regularly. I do it about once a year now the surface is shiny all the time and water sits on it in drops. My brothers old Impreza had never been done and was no where near as clean as mine.

i agree, a clay, polish, wax, it'll look good, but it'll still be full of defects compared to that car, which is perfect.

its all about the detail.

You can't work out the paint depth with your naked eye, hence the computer.

indeed, so what are you gaining over a decent wash, claybar, machine polish and wax?

Just a note to all those who are banned from other forums - if anyone can get the message back to these people - I banned some entire networks after we had some distributed download of posts going on, presumably to harvest email addresses. The networks were not anywhere that Corsas are sold or driven so it wasn't much of a problem.

Obviously if we're getting traffic from further afield then it is, so I've lifted the ban. Can you ask anyone who was having trouble to try again.

ps. those images are slow because they're on Imageshack not CS hosting. Thread is getting a hammering though - check whose online. Loads of guests and they're all looking in here.

yes, i can.

all the paint depth gauge is for is for measuring the thickness of the paint so he knows how much he can safely remove to correct the paint, finding orange peel, scratches, swirl marks etc etc is easy.

so you think spending thousands to get a car looking marginally better than a normal polish and wax is actions of a sane person? especially on a car such as a Vauxhall Astra

TBH id rather listen to nathan who details proper cars, than you and he claims its ott

Nice car but why bother it's an Astra not Ferrari, anyway with the state of our roads it will be a mess the next day, luckily he is sad and does not have a life so it will keep him busy! Personally I take my car to the car wash a couple of times a week and polish it a couple of times a month, if I have time.
