Rear lights bring the golf up to date imo, instead off the normal m3 (half clear half red) rear lights which have been done to death by most mark 1's
And the chin spoiler you say you wish would fall off,i dont get why? it's a standard item that came on the mk1 gti's?

Lovely motor Robin. Mate that I share the workshop with is a massive Golf fan, races a mk2 at the 'ring, but has owned mk1's and mk2's. He has an early mk2 (with front quarter windows) and he has the porsche door handles on that, think he bagged them from a scrappy and polished them up, top mod that definately needs doing on yours!

Duckbill doesn't even fit properly
I'm now on the lookout for a genuine one, which I'm going to struggle to find
Oli, I'll be doing it when I've got a spare £150 or so for the handles

Oh, new badges turned up today though, and are fitted
Grille should be here soon and I have a new gearknob ordered too.
Had a little problem with my brake lights yesterday, they wouldn't work at all, so I messed around tracing wiring, swapping bulbs, going in to town to get new bulbs and a multimeter, then I'd given up, came inside and my mum asked if I'd checked the fuse So, 2 hours wasted then
Still got a misfire which is intermittent. It was fine earlier, but odd yesterday. Quick when it's working though

Looks good mate. Will this one be striped and change of engine like the corsa? I think it should!

Im not stripping this one, it's far too good for that, and it's not got much in the way of creature comforts at the moment anyway
As for the engine, maybe.
There's 3 options, not sure which one would be best.
1. New 1.8 8v engine like it has already, with carbs
2. 1.8 8v G60 engine
3. 2 litre 16v engine with TBs
G60 one is top of the list, but the re-con 8v would be cheapest, and probably most reliable.
The current engine is good at the moment anyway

I wolud say a 2litre 16 valve! I've driven a tuned one in a mk1 and it was really quick! G60 engines must be quite rare and expensive aren't they?

I'd imagine they're not easy to get hold of, no
16vs are plentiful, but not as cool.
Won't be for a while yet anyway.

Difficult to say really Andy, it's a bit odd at the moment as I'm paying for the remainder of the policy, so it would work out as loads, but it's only for 5 months.
When I renew, it'll be £700ish with brentacre, or £500ish if I go with a classic policy with Adrian Flux
