At what point were we discussing what made a forum? You said 'forums are a thing of the past' I simply explained that you were talking rubbish.

traditional forums are a thing of the past, because most information is out there on the net anyway, in the form of wikipedia etc etc.

now show me where vbulletin, phpbb, and invision are developing software that is going to change this?

if anything older forums like this will stick around to be the best new forums with new software will fail in the future i think

yeah i am, because it is

it is old fashioned, not that that is a bad thing, it will still continue to be the best where new forums with new software come and fail.

software doesnt mean jack shit in the forum world, CS is proof of this

why do you feel the need to come on a corsa website every day all day, on old software?

Within the question is your answer.

Because it gives you the abilty to chat to like minded people that have the same or similar interests.

Within that chat becomes an information database that provides a much larger cross section of views than some thing like wikipied can give.

For Example:

Say I wanted to find out about an engine in a corsa and the best way to tune it? Would you get the anwser from a static website or a better answer from forums?

This will never change IMHO, and with forum software taking the likeable aspects of social networking (current software) onboard it will not fade away it will only grow stronger. IMHO

from forums that already exist and have all this information in the database.

my point is, new forums, that are the main peopole to use new software, will and are failing due to too much dilation in the forum world

there is too much dilution in forums per topic howver that will never change as ever man and his dog wants to be an admin (not sure why its a crap job) but to me that is a totally different subject matter and of no relervance to forum software moving forward.

I am off now, as I am bored

exactly, and only the established forums will ever really succeed.

as long as ian runs this site, there will never be another corsa forum as big, same goes for all the main forums, like seatcupra.net, briskoda etc etc

any new ones being setup will just fail over time, even with this new fangled software you speak of

Social networking will be the death of the internet imo.

Worst thing that the internet has caused in the past wee while, detest all they sites.

If all the other forums are based heavily on that i'll continue browsing here as I do at the moment.
