Let you off then!

Still, check out Villa! They deserve a UEFA Cup spot this season.

They were poor tonight IMO, they didnt look like troubling us other than a crazed 4min spell by our defenders.

I still reckon we'll finish fourth.

There's a big lack of confidence with certain players at the moment. We have a few players dragging the team on and sometimes not even the best players (benayoun when he gets a game) and obv torres and gerrard. Was listening to it last night on 5 live and lawro made some good poiints (shock horror) literally half of that line up and alot of the subs aren't playing anywhere near to there ability. I support manager completely but I feel he needs to tell some players they are dropped for playing shite, to give them a chance to prove themselves or to let them sulk.

Aurrelio, kuyt, hyppia, kewell, crouch just a few examples.

Hyppia was my MOTM last night, he was amazing!

TBH though he could play like that every week but he still needs dropping. Because of his lack of pace our defence has sat much deeper this season than last, and therefore the midfield has been a lot deeper and the gap between the midfield and forwards has created problems when attacking.

If Agger was in there then we defend with a much higher line, and therefore push everyone else further forward and it creates more problems for other teams.

I didn't watch it last night but over the course of the season he's made some dodgy decisions that don't relate to his pace also. I agree though problems with pace at the back dictate how and where defenders can push up and drop off which has been apparent in certain games although playing mascherano should link up the midfield and defense more than it has been. We need the quality and pace of agger back ASAP.

I dont think the link between the defenders and midfield has been a problem, as the whole midfield has sat deep too to make sure their is a link there.

I mean how many times this season have you seen us just sit deep and pass the ball between the defenders and midfield, but cant go forward and the gap between the midfield and forwards is just too much!?!

Ok point taken, it would be easier to pick up on these things with a regular team every week and formation also

We have created (as you've said) so many opportunities though and in alot of cases it's been down to final ball or unconfident link up in and around the box. It's only gerrard and torres who have any imo. We need our strikers to earn there fucking money

I would like to see babel start also, I can see him getting slightly disillusioned with riise and kewell starting in front of him tbh.

Yeah, Babel is obviously a rough diamond and think if he played 90mins week in week out then fans would soon get on his back with the mistakes he makes as he gets used to the pace of the game - as he does make a fiar few mistakes at the moment. So think Rafa is trying to ease him into things a bit more than he would normally.

Agreed about the forwards though - other than Torres they have all been shocking this season.

Either that or he'd learn quicker, I can see what you mean but no-one else is creating much and I don't see pushing him in quickly as being detrimental to his development but then i'm not a coach

The UEFA cup in 2001 yeah.

The CL win in 2005...nope. Both are special trophies to win IMO and would of been happy with either that or the league within 4yrs of Rafa taking charge.
