Do you not agree though? You don't realise how handy a decent cup holder is till its there, may I add the one in my Audi is superb.

and I don't own any Gucci loafers

The best cup holders I have EVER come across are in a Corsa B, the ones in the glovebox are awesome, Coke cans and McDonalds cups fit perfectly.

Disagreed - you can't get Thermos type mugs in them

My BMW has a 2 litre bottle holder, as did both my Corsa Bs, C, Nova, Cavalier, both Golfs and the Fiesta, even the Mini did.

It's called the passenger footwell.

Cupholders in the BMW are good, they're even angled so one comes out towards the driver. Crap with bottles though, they just fall over

This highlights the issue perfectly. Whilst there may be a difference in interior and exterior build quality etc, is this difference £8k - £10k's worth of extra car?

I don't think so.

but i dont really think there is a major difference in build quality. the difference comes from past reputations that leads people to assume there is a major difference.

I wouldn't care. I'd have just saved myself about £8k

But seriously, where is £8k worth of extra gumph?! A lot found in the 4 overlapping circles on the front and rear imho.

You would care when you need to sell it and its worth peanuts. I know some people don't care, but there are people who will and the Audi will hold its money better. Thats a fact.

On the where is the extra £8k, Why is an M3 worth x amount more than a Monaro?

Or M5 vs VXR8, there's a fucking huge difference in price, but there's no doubt which is the better car.

Fair point.

M3's are awesome though. Monaro's/VXR8's are built by ex-British convicts

Exactly, ok the Audi will hold it's value better, but then the car is worth 10k more to those that don't have a clue and will rule out the rest on past reputation.

I don't care how much the car is worth in 3 years time, a car is a depreciating asset, always will be no matter what car you buy.

This point was raised on Pistonheads recently, you have three types of people

The badge snobs who just say "it's a Vauxhall it's shit"
The ones who see the VXR8 as a real alternative to the M5 normally own an M5 already.
The ones who would rather spend 20k less and get the VXR8 and have just as much fun and have an expensive holiday with the change.
