Yeh I know what you mean.. As long as costs are kept low its a winwin situation.
If you had to pay someone for all the work they've done it would be like pissing money down the drain.

cubie your correct the area we have our house in is very quite and it looks sorta run down but the people who stay around us are very freindly and genuine down to earth people (worker's not your normal dole bum's) and also yes i do eveything myself and so far the house only owe's us around the 4-5grand mark and that includes our kitchen that comes this week as i get everything trade price's lol we plan on staying put in this house for a good while so we arent looking to make a profit as such but as a refrence the house across the road has just sold for 73k and we got our's for 55k and there's is needing renovation so to say the least i'm more than happy to spend the time and money on our investment for the future cheer's for your good comment's

The areas not run down, it's just not new build like all you posh ponces on here with £1000 mortgages
Also, we bought it as our first home for the next 5 or so years, not for a profit maker. Although that would be nice
With us doing all the work ourselves (apart from the electrics) we have saved thousands. Plus all the winter and spring sales have helped!
Although nothing is guaranteed, we will certainly not be at a loss.
Our's has the most land out of the 8 houses in the cul de sac and is obviously gonna be the prettiest Not that I am biased!
As for an update, the front garden isn't looking so sorry for itself - but once that grass was gut back it was in a right state so it's currently undergoing a healthcare treatment curtousy of Miracle Gro
Also livingroom is on its way to completion, just can't decide on a fireplace! Want a gas one that goes on the wall but we have a working chimney so don't one flueless one and all the real ones are like £700 plus!

Bit of slow progress this month, back to work and gorgeous weekends have made it difficult to work inside! Tidied up the garden a lot.
Livingroom is ready for final coats of paint and gloss, it once bad ass bumpy ceiling which is all now nice and smooth. Will paint it last though as it is a bit of a storage room at the minute!
Kitchen is ripped out and rewired, the walls are terrible so to save time and money plasterboard is being fired up. Kitchen still isn't delivered yet due to no wine rack in stock. Not an issue as we aren't ready for it yet anyway.
Hopefully we will get moved in at the end of May all going to plan!

little bit of an update on the kitchen since we havn't for a while so been busy with firing up new plasterboard, I just dot and dabbed it on and it's pretty hard work doing it myself then i ames taped it and fired up some coving to finish it off then sanded down and painted it up then i started fitting the carcase's of the kitchen all level and solid livingroom has took a major backseat until i get the kitchen done as everything and anything is in there
some of the pic's are abit muddled up but you get the idea lol

well being a painter i find it easy but all you really need if a long pile roller an extra long roller pole and a very good long haired 4inch brush and water the paint down a fair bit and it'll cover better as it flows into all the nooks and crannys of the rough cast
wee update coming up later on
