That picture wasnt the actual car I bought, it was the only photo of that type of car I had handy. The car I went for was private, was advertised on Pistonheads website and I test drove it, checked out vin numbers etc to see they all matched up, hpi'd it etc etc.

Going to be a painful wait until Thursday, although I fail to see why it will take that long. I can go online and do a bank transfer right now, I don't see what the problem is.

Yeah what banks is it?
I know Natwest to HSBC is instant, it's building societys to banks that is usually a delay so if it's bank to bank hes stalling.

Great idea - take 8k in cash.
Heard way too many horror stories, view the car innocently, then you and 'seller' get mugged coincidently.

You'll have nobody to press charges against they will just flea to pakistan then come back as someone else.
Even though the whole thing sounds dodgy as fuck, the effort that would take would not be worth £7k.
Not really, could pretend to come back as a relative on borrowed documents, it happens.

You can pay a small fee for a quicker transaction on large sums of cash.
I recently had to transfer £11,000 from my NatWest account to my solicitors Barclays account, if i did it normally it would take 3-4 days, i paid something like £12.50 and it was in their account by 3pm the same day.
Really hope you get your cash back matey, i have been scammed with a car before and lost almost £8,000 just had to hold my hands up and say i fucked up!
Bought a car without the V5, trusted the seller, turned out to be a ringer. Police seized the car and gave it back to the insurance company. Gutted didnt even begin to describe it!!

Enough isnt good enough! If it was a couple of grand yeah no worries, not 8 grand though, come on. If you were carrying 8 grand in CASH around with and got mugged you have no leg to stand on, nothing whatsoever will get the money back to you.

on the other hand if you told him you'd come on the day with the cash then he wouldnt have a leg to stand on if it WAS a scam. It werent as if you were meeting up in a carpark

Like I was saying though, i've bought and sold at least 5 cars by bank transactions. If I was selling, they would bank transfer the money, when the money was in, they collected, it was simple. Ive bought cars like this too before, with no problems.
