Up to £500 and I'm interested, more than that I couldn't justify it just for surfing the net and doing pretty basic stuff.

So they've brought out a massive ipod touch and will have just created a market segment that never has and never will need to exist, great, where can I pay over the odds for one?

Maybe not, really depends on the apps it can run, iWorks is a big deal for this imo and makes it much more appealing.

Why?
Just because tablets haven't taken off up until now, why shouldn't they?
I see them being massive, more so after the take up of the iphone.

If they are similarly priced, then you would be right to say the IPAD is not worth it.
No it isn't large, it's only 0.2inches thicker than the iPad, 1.5lbs heavier and not that much bigger in all directions. This is why i'm confused why you'd get an limited product over something that is marginally bigger and more expensive but is more powerful and gives you scope to anything you want unlike the iPad (you can even view all websites )
iWorks is about the only really clawing it back in.

It's nothing to do with it being a tablet (although it has been tried before and never taken off, apple are a different kettle of fish) it's the fact it's just a big itouch.

tbh it will be very popular with businessmen etc... people who work on the road and commute, smaller, lighter than a laptop, can do everything it needs too!

It'll be popular with the same subset of people that the iphone is, which is unbelievably large.

It may just be a big Touch John, but the fact its bigger means the different apps you can have on it makes it so much more.

As said, my iPhone is great for a quick look on the net for something. But if I'm sat in bed and want to browse for a bit its too small, hence where this fits for me. For me its just dependant on price but I can see it being too dear for me to justify so might just end up with a netbook.

And the 3G models cost an extra $130, so $629, $729 and $829 for the 3G-capable models.
