Sorry. If you wish to insure a rwd car you have to
have 12 months experience of driving similar cars.

Tim,
I am already insured with you guys and I wanted to give a thumbs up. If anyone is thinking about Adrian Flux for a modified car then forget it. The team did everything they could to beat my renewal from Flux and so far I have received brilliant customer service from them.
I hope the move to the new premises has gone well for you!

So if I bought a BMW 320d I wouldn't get insured as its rear wheel drive and i've never owned a rear wheel drive before? Even though I drive a 280bhp Astra VXR which i'm far more likely to throw into a ditch?
Not having a go btw just seeing if the rule goes ths far?

An E30 318 3 series is hardly a speed demon, it just happens to have rwd.
What about insuring a beetle?

That would be fine. Generally the criteria is that when insuring performance cars you must have experience of driving similar bhp cars.

You'll have to ring the team I'm afraid. I tend to work externally so haven't got the groups available.

Just 22+ for COMP cover and 19+ for TPFT and you'd need a year's experience of driving that of a similar performance car.

You say you have to have driving the car with the engine swap for over a year, what if this was say a few years ago and the car was sitting in your garage and you wanted to insure it, would this still cover you

I have owned a 181bhp corsa and a few other xe cars but cant insure a e30 318 because its rwd?
just seems a bit rule for one rule for another, i also had a company car that was rwd but only had it for 8 months, was told i couldnt include that as i didnt own it?

Tbh, BMW's don't have a good claims history with our insurers so they are a little stricter than the norm.

I can't imagine that many cars that people on car forums want to insure will have a good claims history.

Well, tbh, they generally do. Insurers aren't too concerned with just 1 claim but if someone's had 2 or 3 within a short space of time, they tend to consider it more carefully.

Sorry bud i ment in terms of the cars they are looking to insure, ie. I can imagine you pay out more than you take in on all the cars that forums users are likely to have... VXR's, Type-R's, M-Sports etc.

''similar performance car''?
when has a corsa gsi been a performance car? normal granny hatches have at least 100bhp nowadays.
