UPDATE
Finally decided to get my finger out with this LET build... ordered up the parts i needed a few weeks back and sent the block away to get honed for the new rings.
Parts i had purchased were...
New piston rings
Full bottom end gasket set
New water pump
Big end bearings
Conrod bearings
Full top end gasket set
Pec Steel rods
ARP conrod bolts
New clutch kit
Wednesday last week was the beginning for the rebuild, got my block back from the machine shop and my mate lee got it built up on the same night. Apart from me torquing everything up as he is still recovering from a broken collar bone
Next up on thursday was the coscast head, striped down and new steam seals fitted and valves re-ground. Possibly the most boring thing i have ever done in my life!!! although i suppose it will be worth it in the end
Friday seen the start of the conversion... I have been really lucky that my mates dad has let me use his machining factory, access to pretty much anything you would need in a situation like this! Including a handy forklift
Car up at a decent height, LET being built whilst i start taking the 1600 thunder out
With this being mine and my mates 1st ever convertion i suppose we were kind of pushing it for being ready to take upto crail on the sunday. Silly small things prevented the car being finished in time although im hopefully i will make Total Vaux at Knockhill at the end of the month.
As it stands...
and being towed home on the sunday morning before crail
