I'm looking to get a bike... I live right near swinley forest, and keep renting a bike and fucking about but need my own.
Thinking specialized hard rock pro or something - ok not amazing, but I reckon it'll do...

Anyone recommend anything to cover the bottom of the downtube at the bottom bracket area?
I've got some bike shield on downtube and generally other areas of the bike which is fine for stopping stone chips and scratches but could do with something a bit more heavy duty for the bottom bracket area as I ride some very rocky routes and I've caught the frame a couple of times now plus the size of some of the rocks that are flicked up are pretty big so can be quite an impact off them. Dinted my last bike frame Its probably going to have to be some sort of DIY method as cant seem to find a specific product available off the shelf for what I'm after

Ive got an old Specialized Rockhoper at the mo. (no pics)
Should be getting one of these next week.

2010 Specialized fsr xc pro. They have just droped the price of it by about £300 as 2011 bikes are on there way

Not a bad idea, only thing is how to attach it. Don't want to drill in to the frame so it'd have to be strapped on using zip ties or something

Trek do a carbon armour you know? Just slots onto the downtube, nice and secure

Thats the built in one for carbon fiber bikes, but im sure they do one to fit any trek
