Im really not going to defend our company to someone on the internet who doesnt seem to understand that I wasnt talking to a customer- i was talking to a timewaster who had nothing better to do than to slander me then throw accusations at me.
Our customers are very hapoy with us and have been for the 6 years I have been here and the 80 years the company has been.

When in sales, each 'No' is one step nearer to a 'Yes' but each rude tin pot timewaster is stopping you getting either of the aforementioned.

my last words on this as I have to go and frankly its boring and im over it now
I gave him perfectly adaquate customer service
he goes off on one
I tell him we dont have what he wants and I am about to suggest another option of going elsewhere for a recon machine
He then accuses me of ripping him off
I ask him to leave in a polite manner as he is clearly insane and is looking for an argument
He doesnt leave, calls me a liar
he gets told to fuck off
if he told me properly what he wanted start with he would have been told what our cheapest machine was or told where he could get a cheaper recon machine
if he didnt accuse me of ripping him off he wouldnt have been asked to leave politely
If he had of left when asked to politely then he wouldnt have been told to fuck off
If he hadnt of continued to call me a liar he wouldnt have been told to get the fuck out.
His choices not mine - I was there to offer him good service and sell him a machine if possible or recommend a second hand supplier to him ..... he instigated an argument, he then refused to leave, he then called me a liar -- he then got told to do one.

I really can't believe you're trying to defend your actions, and yes i've read the whole thread.
Losing your temper due to being called a liar and ripping him off? Seriously? Put your tampon back in.
Regardless of the situation you stay calm and polite with the customer (as they are in the store, so until they leave, they are a customer) no matter what. Escort them off the premises if they are getting irate or whatever. Common sense imo, regardless 'if you're established' bla bla biggest hospital supplier. You can't rest on your laurels

I'd only swear at a customer if they swore at me and they'd really wound me up... I don't think I've ever really done it in fairness. I usually manage to avoid swearing with disgruntled customers but it can be so tempting. Usually if they swear at me, call me all the names under the son, i'd just refuse to help any more and walk off, after all we're not paid to be personally insulted.

I feel sorry for people in customer facing roles, I used to work in a shop when I was doing A Levels and then later in an call centre for a major insurer before i moved into IT so I know all about providing high levels of customer service and care.
I think all the abuse and general shit you get from customers gradually builds up and you either end up venting or taking it out on friends and family or at worst it gets to such a level that you end up with mental health issues.
Your reward for all this? Providing a high level of customer service and exceeding customer expectations for probably not a lot of money.

Well done for standing up to an Arsehole customer and telling them to do one IMHO. Granted its poor customer service but there are impossible people out there and quite a few that seem to enjoy belittling sales advisors etc because its the only bit of power they (the customer) have in their piss ant lives. These people need to be put in their place, do you really care that much about the company you work for? what about your pride, your self worth etc etc?
Sometimes you just have to stick it to the cunts.
