I'm gonna be honest, these have gone too far. It's like people are sticking in any old image and using it now and it looks total wank It just looks like you've taken a normal image and added a blur to the top and bottom.
There's a few that've worked, but some people are raving over are just plain crap.

I agree, it really only tends to work from a high vantage point onto crowds of people.

Yup, a lot of people are picking the wrong photos (ie: close up shot of a car) for tilt-shift. As people have said, it only really works on landscapes or high-vantage shots. Nothing compares to using a proper tilt-shift lens though.

thats what i found when i tried it, i thought i was doing something wrong but that seems to be what it does 
i could do more in photoshop i reckon
