if your doing your own thing within the council you'll probably be all good, its when you get to the gaffers and charge hands that have no clue about your trade and there crazy ideas on what you can/cant do then it gets a bit long in the tooth

Just recieved this info from work looks like there's more to come
Winter briefing
Update Tuesday 14 December 2010
West Lothian has been hit by two waves of severe weather. The Met Office is now warning there
is a 60% chance of a heavy band of snow on Thursday 16 December to hit at morning rush hour.
What the council is doing
We are:
n Currently reviewing the situation regarding possible nurseries and schools closures on Thursday 16 December. We have been advised by the School Transport Operators that they may have to cancel council journeys at short, or no notice, if severe weather strikes. We believe that parents in West Lothian want to know as far in advance as possible of closures. Parents will be informed via groupcall before 7pm on Wednesday 15 December.

Latest request from the Council
Dear colleagues
Further to my earlier email detailing the Winter Briefing note and the forecast heavy snow for Thursday 16th December the council is seeking to identify staff with 4 x 4 vehicles who would be willing to assist with transportation as required.
If you have a 4 x 4 vehicle and would be available to assist I would be grateful if you could provide your details by returning the Emergency Volunteer Form.
I bet after all preparation we won't see a drop of snow !

Few days ago I heard:
16th-18th forecast lows -15 and blizzards
19th-20th forecast lows -20
Warming up a bit for Christmas
Now, the 5 day forecast has a low of -3 and light snow predicted on Sunday
Next week, place bets now...
