I'm a graduate and went through the Marriott Grad Training Program.
In my chosen industry (hotels), its all about experience. I got fast tracked due to being on the Grad Program, but tbh most of the theory I learnt at uni went out of the window.
I went in on a very good salary on the Grad Program as a Supervisor not really having a clue, when there were people who'd been in the industry for years, on alot less etc.
Obviously the reason for the Graduate Program was to exploit potential, but I still felt pretty bad.

Tbh now i'm directly involved, I give NVQ's ALOT more value than I used to when I was working as a manager in hotels.
At the end of the day, because NVQ's are work based quals, they really prove the person is competant in their job, so they should be given the recognition they deserve.
