Cheers mate, whats it like in comparision to your BM? As I find my 330 boring to drive!! Hence wanting a hatch again. From what I looked into its quite easy to get decent power out of these

Completely diff to my BM, with it being a convert (heavier than coupe) and an auto it wasnt a fun car to drive but was very good for cruising around with the roof down (what owning a vert is about imo)

Mini is a lot more agile and alot more fun to drive, and is alot better on juice.

They are quite easy to get power from,

reduced pulley (15/17%)
intercooler
colder plugs
new belt
Exhaust
(might need more, olly will know)

should see you in the 210-220's.

How often and how big a job/expense is it to have the superchargers rebuilt?

Not sure and dont want to look

edit: Had a quick look and looked after ones are supposedly well into triple figures.

Not sure on prices as most are coming up in yank money, saw a site that rebuilt it all for $895 or thereabouts.

The one I was driving a couple of months ago had over 110k on it and was still going fine on the original charger

Low compression seems to be an issue that Tom@1320 finds quite a lot but not sure if that's scaremongering or truth.
