What do you drive

BMW 318d

Gusy at our place have the 320Ed and they are seeing 65mpg circa 850 to a tank

My 118d is averaging 46mpg steady driving. Motorway back from London couldn't get more than 50mpg. Stupid 61mpg combined book figure.

No cars ever do the MPG they are promised.

My car does 54.something book average, I can't manage to average over 50.

Prius is meant to do something like 76MPG book, sits between 58 and 60.

Mum's merc apparently does 28 book, more like 20.

The Mazda I don't give a flying fuck about, if I get 100 miles out of £20 I'm not ragging hard enoigh

Talking about MPG is almost as much fun as talking about a Corrado that never moves. Exciting times.

The picture was normal driving
I barely put the throttle down.
I can get it to read single figures all the way if I wanted to

Nick-S, it's an Altitude with a genuine full R50 kit.

Close to 200,000 miles is impressive for a car tbh.

I disagree, mine will get its book figure fairly easily if driving properly, not coasting, not ragging etc Mine isn't even standard and gives back book figure if I drive in a gentle manner. Because I don't at the weekend, the average drops to about 59/60

Now whether you choose to drive with a heavy or light right foot is more to do with them not producing what is promised ! Also things like when in a 30 dropping it into 5th or 6th and sitting just off idle helps. If I want to do a silly economy run I just ensure I don't hit boost and it starts giving back lolmpg that even you would be proud of !

I can't be arsed these days, as long as the general value for money (hence a car that does a min avg of 45mpg) is there then I'm good.

Just some quick pics. Its raining here so not many.
Quick spec,
5.0l V10 Tdi, R50 bodykit custom fitted, Keyless entry, keyless start, auto lights, auto wipers, satnav, electric heated seats all round, climate all round, 20" Porsche Turbo alloys, and other bits and bobs.
Comfy, loads of road presence, and smoooooooooooooth and powerful engine.

The T'reg was bought from the owner of Tech 9, UK's Techart for Porsche. He was selling this V10. He has an Audi S8 V10, and a Porsche Carrera GT V10

Some of the cars at his work are crazy. So many Porsche's!
One owner, a friend of a very wealthy football manager here in the UK, has his GT2 RS there. 500 miles into track days, and he needs a new clutch. That's his toy. He has a Veyron as a daily

Another extremely wealthy man, bought 2 new Porsche Cayenne Turbo S's. £120,000 a pop.
Then fitted them both with Techart Magnum bodykits made from Kevlar. £60,000 a pop.
Equals £360,000... for his sons
The brakes fitted 410mm Carbon Ceramic, with Techart forged rims. £6,000 excluding tyres

I felt so poor

shit you not, i did a massive burnout in the escort the other day, some builders started building at 7:15am, hammers & saws, so i drove round there and did a proper good wheelspin with handbrake on.

then this morning i've run over a kids bike

Averaging 38mpg atm so should see 300 out of a tank (£50-60) thats with a very small amount of playing though.

Will brim it tonight ready for my burnley run tomorrow and see how many i can get back down to the red without being a grandad.

[Edited on 04-08-2011 by Fro]

based on 1.35 a litre 38mpg should see you at around 370 miles

I did it to 40 litres as read that each notch on the guage was meant to be 10 and then there is a small reserve which is prob why i got to 300 ish. Will see what happens the weekend.

You can only get them in auto.
Like I said, I don't really care about MPG anyway.

I have it booked in for a remap to 400bhp and 700+lb/ft 1000nm torque
