my next car will be something along those lines

That's the route I'd go down when having to get a semi sensible car. Couldn't go to a car with no power. I don't see it as a bad thing whatever tickles ur fancybut I'd miss the petrol sound

Oh yea no doubt. But with the Diesel you get performance without the high cost, granted it's not as good an all round car but for the power I can see why people go for it.

What if you wanted to live with your parents forever?

Some sort of VW maybe? Something with a V6 variant?

oh dear you really are stuck in the 90's

Yes petrol is always going to be the preffered option but that doesn't mean you must dismiss derv

In this economy with taxation and financial pressures why would get a similar performance petrol over the derv

yes if its your own money the derv will cost you more to buy.

I seem to recall an article that looked at the cost of a 2.0t compared to a 2.0 tdi for the A5 and to break even you needed to do 20,000 miles - any more and the derv was the more sensible option

Remember must people who are lucky enough to order such a car a brand new are not buying them with their own money. They are simply funding the car by company car allowance or have access to such cars on company car schemes

If I had the choice of a 335i or 335d the derv would be my choice due to my situation of doing around 25,000 miles per annum and having to pay BIK tax

If i did little mileage and it was my own car of course the 335i would be the better option
