Lad at work ordered one from RS components using my "invitation to buy", as I already have mine from Farnell... a day later, he got his own "invite" from RS, so ordered another.. less than 2 weeks later, 3 turned up! They cocked the 2nd order and sent it out twice
He thinks they'll notice, but said he'll just pay them for the 3rd as he wants to keep it.

What can you do on it that is usefull? Can you get a jailbroke version of apple tv or something on it? That would be usefull!

It's a 'computer' on embedded hardware (ARM processor) - essentially you can run a few versions/distro's of Linux and a few other ARM based OS's.
XMBC is just a media centre and a 'nice' frontend to play your stored/streamed media. There's a windows and a LiveCD (burn the downloaded image to CD/DVD and you test it straight off that) version of XMBC, which i'd use for testing before stumping up (and having to wait 4+ weeks for) on a RPi.

Use it to learn how to program stuff. Make something cool using the GPIO. Loads of possibilities

Its just a convieniently sized computer with low power drain.. You can use it for media stuff if you like (although it isnt brilliant) but its main purpose is for creating custom hardware for example you could write a script to read some inputs from a thermistor and a VR and use it to control your boiler.

It's main purpose is for education.
It can be used for various control tasks though.
