You will need a 5mm gap between each tile to allow for swelling and contracting. (like the boards are on the tile)

Aye, i was thinking of using tiling spacers? Dont know if it would work though. Might knock up a little frame that i can put on while i fix them down then lift off.

Had two hours tonight so had a bash at noggins. Went well, pulled the frame in nice and square.
Dont think i'll get owt else done til next weekend now. Party the morn, and forcast for the weekend is really bad, amber alert for rain. Bad times. And im working away next week down cardiff.
Happy with it so far.

Cheers. Bloody solid now like. Only held up in the four corners with bricks but only a tiny bit of bounce, tempted to knock the number of posts down but should probs stick with it.

10-12 posts should do that. Mine was twice the size and think I used 20 and it wont budge a mm anywhere.

Randomly got a call today and someone just turned up to put deposit down on tiles. Will order the deck boards next week then.
Is my frame and noggins etc ok for the boards?

yes more than fine
now your using boards remeber to have a drop op 10mm at the end to allow water to run off.

Aye once ive got the posts in i'll add a bit of fall to run off to the left.
Trying to decide what to do with the space on the left. Thinking a big raised bed for a herb garden, clad with deck boards?

Id make a brick bbq or an area where you can sit a gas BBQ, maybe like a table or a bar area, can sit speakers on there and drinks etc...

Been working away for ages now so not any further. Back home tomorrow and going to try and take thurs n fri off to get it finished.
Frame is overkill, but i did it thinking i was going to be using the tiles straight onto it and taking the other frame back to b&q. Then someone came and bought the lot so got some boards instead.

Finally got the posts in, membrane and gravel down...
Then got the boards down last night. Ended up working til 1030 to finish it.
The uprights on the left are going to be the frame of the raised planter which will be clad in deck boards too.

I was planning to, the tiles would have raised it up an extra inch or so. But at this height when im on it my head is level with the top of the fence, so thats about what i wanted.
Its solid to walk on, almost like walking on concrete, no bounce at all.
Just need to get the planter finished and get the shed up then clear all the shite to the tip, one reason im making such a big planter, i can use up a load of the old soil, saves taking it away.

Got a bit more done tonight, trying to make it nice and strong so it will last. Was pitch black when i finished so hope it looks ok tomorrow!
I was going to build a little two seat section in the middle and have a smaller planter either side, but this way i think i will use most of the soil up so saces me humping it through the house.
Still might split the planter into sections and have a little herb garden bit and mebbies a couple of veggies in there too.

Lining it with marine ply and then thick polothene, the base is just broken soil so nothing is stopping the water draining.
