Iv read some of there comments on the facebook pages there is some one called yourgoing toprison that they keep arguing with. They just really dont care what they are doing and wouldnt be bothered in getting locked up but there luck will change they will steal the wrong persons car who will get hold of them and cause some damage.

this is seriously fucked up... its been happening for months but the police 'may' have inadvertantly escalated it through their stupid facebook comments. Certainly raised awareness.
The whole city seems to know about this, and want something done... legally or otherwise.

Only just seen this. What can you do realistically though?
If you catch them you can do one of two things:
- Hand them over to the police, in which case they get a slap on the wrist. Probably not even jailtime as them standing on your garden looking at your car (as above) isn't exatly as jailable offence.
- Kick the shit out of them in which case you end up with jail time and they go scott free as you can't proove again they 'were' going to take your car.
Might be different if you catch them in your house but again you can't leagally do shit and if you do you'll come worse off.
Safest thing would be to lock your door and take your keys with you when you're out.
It's good they keep putting stuff on FB though because one day they'll trip up and give out a name/location/picture or something that tie's it back to them and they'll have people in balaclavas turning up on their doorstep for a change.
