Just found another one in the same colour.
It's only done 8200 miles and the owner says £90k will buy it.
It has the ceramics, but i'm guessing at that price it won't have the front lift kit.

Morgan Aero Supersport are around the £90k mark. They are holding value quite well

That's been for sale for a while. It has the ceramics but no the front lift kit.
Also not the colour scheme my dad wants.

Now this is a beauty, but LHD
http://www.pistonheads.com/classifieds/used-cars/porsche/911-gt3-997/lhd-porsche-997-gt3-rs-4-0/1807858#
Found a RHD one but the owner told me he's turned down offers of £270k, so he's not letting that go

I've now had a reply from the owner of the 8200 miles one and he confirmed it didn't have the lift kit.
It's also had the bonnet, bumper and wings painted and he reckons to make the car mint it'd need the rear arches painting
Retro-fitting the Porsche lift kit is £8-10k.
So add in the cost of paint and it'd be over £100k.
I might have found a compromise though.
My dad doesn't like the white and red because he doesn't like yellow callipers behind red wheels.
But we came up with the idea of powder coating the wheels white.
What do you think?
Standard:

Surely at that cost and rarity you wouldn't even consider buying something that's had and still needs more paint.
Would have to be absolutely immaculate.

Exactly. That's why we're moving on to the next option...
If it needed paint at 8000 miles it's obviously been driven hard and not well looked after.

The white one above which could be the next option was one of the highest spec'd ones delivered to the UK. Over £140k when new.
It's got PCCB and front lift kit and it's only done ~6k miles.

White looks nice. any reason you can't powdercoat the calipers?

Yellow callipers signify the carbon ceramic brakes so you wouldn't want to hide that fact that you have them.

Oh ok. Wheel colour change doesn't cost much in the grand scheme of things. Can always change back if needed also.

Exactly It's certainly cheaper than the original plan for this car which was to change the bumper insert, mirrors, wheels, spoiler end plates and the decals to gold to replicate this...
That was decided against as it was going to cost around £4k and it would have ruined the originality of the car.
Hopefully the car is still available.
I was told about it a while ago, but it was never advertised publicly.

Found a 30k mile RHD 993 RS the other day. It's in Ocean blue too, which was the same colour as my dad's first 993.

Only problem with that is it would just feel like a slower version of his Turbo.

does mileage really matter - surely its condition as I am sure he doesn't do that many miles
Maybe completely wrong but a car like this is surely better mechanically if its used rather than 3900 mile over 3 years

Not when it's something like this which at purchase price and how anal the buyers will be, will have been serviced properly and not kept out in the rain.

The 400k budget was only really if he decided to go down the F40 route.
That is the only thing he'd spend that much on.
A new F12 or Aventador won't hold their value. Have you seen what happened to 599 and Murcielago prices?

My dad is 58 and he doesn't need a 1200bhp monster

Yeah, he doesn't do many miles, and throwing another car into the equation will mean he'll do even less per car, but a low mileage car will always be more desirable.
