Front splitter - we dont have any quantifiable data to say the splitter does XYZ but.....

both cars at SLS round 2 were about the same power... and the blue one was at least a second quicker a lap. It is MUCH more responsive though, and had better brakes

nice, fair bit of cash in engine wise now as opposed to 2.1 then

how do the two compare? iv still got my classic sat in storage, no engine, no interior, just chassis, brakes, coils ready for a cage and engine.

The engine cost difference over my 2.1 is about 700. Just the 2.2 block really.

Avcs heads were cheaper than my sti 3 ported with fruity cams

Some more mapping done - push to pass 'over boost' button working now. Just need to have a look into MAP sensor issues to clarify boost

Rear diff swapped out for a new KAAZ 1.5 way LSD - works nicely

Her old one was pretty goosed. Pics from SD Motorsport

Oil cooler move to open up space for the rad. new rad fitted. Much better water and oil temps. 12lap race - water <85deg and oil <90deg.

Fitted a bigger/stronger front ARB to try and prevent weight transfer to the front on tight hairpins - i.e to stop the rear cocking a wheel in the air. One downside was the possibility of more understeer but there was enough adjustment left in rear ARB and suspension to fine tune this out.

Another weekend of racing / lying under the car done!

New new diff and front ARB definitely have made a positive difference and I can finally get drive out of the hairpin

Finished the first race of the day in 2nd place overall, 1st in class. My first SMRC podium at Knockhill

BUT the headers decided to split so then spent 2 hours under the car before the next race trying to get them fixed.

Was sitting in the car in the paddock with my helmet on and just the bumper to be refitted (two aero catches and 2 cable ties) when my race started - 6 minutes earlier than timetabled
That's probably the first time EVER a race meeting has run early!

So....the brackets on my headers have 'snapped' off and headers came apart.
It's the fixed brackets I have on them. Are the springed ones better, to give a bit more flex (before snapping off) or any other better recommendations?

some geek tastic stuff I have yet to fully understand... Must be averaged plots.

current susp shows not much adjustability on the fist half of its adjustment.

The Nitrons have plots for all 4 corners, but just showing one. They are near identical (matched). They'll be re-valved to match spring rates any road

Had a good day out at Oulton on Saturday.... Thanks to Steven and Brett for lending a hand

Testing new suspension, and giving the car a shake down after the winter engine refesh etc etc.

A few teething niggles....

Rad cap popped off - 10mm thermal spacer was added to inlet which spaced up the expansion tank in turn. Must have been hitting bonnet, and loosened its self on the slanting edge. Easy fix!

Power steering - small weep from the newage pump. Move to different PS system to give more room for turbo inlet. Will look into new pump.

Wheel bearing - suspect NS front is on its way out, so will replace

Propshaft - needs inspected to see if its the cause of a noise heard at Brands last year, and again at Oulton.

Suspension - Fucking Amazing!

-----

Spaced the prop down a few more mm, just to be sure. Most of the scuffing looked old but it was still close to the trans tunnel. Easy to space down on the rear diff cradle.

Rear left remote reservoir was a bit loose on the strut and has looked to have rubbed on the wheel rim a bit. No biggie, but i have a suspicion this is what the noise was on left handers (top of wheel flexing inwards and clipping reservoir ever so slightly.... )

PS Pump removed - cant pin point exactly where its weeping. Will try and replace but if nothing here in time will re-fit and replace later.

Tensioner pulley - bearing was gone. Replaced

17/02/2015:

Back from its winter engine refresh - no changes, just a couple of small changes in the ancillaries to help with packaging/space in the engine bay

New suspension fitted (Nitron R3), and tested at Oulton last weekend. Went well, and car felt great. A coulple of teething issues (Wheel bearing, idler bearing, prop etc etc) but all sorted now.

A pic from Oulton

Both front hubs have new bearings, and are now back on. NS felt ok, OS was notchy and had a drone on closer inspection

New idler for the tensioning of the flipped alternator - old one was purring, and a bit loose on closer inspection.

Swapped out the PS pumps, removed tank/fitted adapter etc

All back together and ready for some more testing this weekend
