I've got a RUI combat knife and an iron bar next to my bed and I would not even for a second hesitate using it, I would be happy doing time for assaulting a burglar even given the risks.

Happy doing time for someone who would end up getting massive compensation for you injuring him, sounds good.

And that's not always true now-a-days as the gov have quite rightly said they will stand up for home-owners and burglars will be prosecuted anyway.

I understand where johns coming from, if I'm there hacking away at a burglar with a combat knife, I doubt I'll have my hand shaken by the law

Depends if you have a hire car or not as you may become liable for the hire car costs from once they have given you a offer. Way that we value cars is by simply going on autotrader and seeing ones the same age, spec and rough mileage and what they are going for.

Haven't taken a hire car as guess they would take that into account when paying out

And if you did it right, they wouldn't be in any position to spend any money.

And if you did it right, no one would ever know, and you wouldn't do time.

Are thy an accident management company? If your happy then fair enough but sounds like they are spinning you a line.

Insurance companies take work but will payout with valid proof that it's worth a particular value.

This is the way this insurance company seems to work by farming everything out to other companies the investigation side of things was done by G4S

The offer of £10k would get me another arctic vxr but not like mine and there aren't any like mine for sale so it's difficult to get them to bump up the offer

Deal with the insurance company direct. It's a lot easier to talk to them.

In my dealings the 3rd parties are an arse to deal with and take so much time to do anything. Aldo they will be taking a huge cut. By going direct with insurance you will get slot better offer as they will be saving money dealing direct with you.

Plus a hit on your insurance for the next 3 years or whatever it is.

I hate cars, too much hassle.

Losing £1700 on an astra in a year would standard even if you hadn't paid over the odds.

I know it's shit that you are worse off because someone has stolen the cars, but the figures they are giving are completely realistic.
