Well coolant system is fully plumbed up, filled and bled and all seems well. Fan cuts in and out nicely so can start to move onto other bits.
I started to trim and fit the front bumper. Was a little tricky at times but patience paid off as it fits well.
I also picked up a momo race steering wheel as I was hating the standard one sooo much its so flimsey!

Right this is how she stands with the front bumper on and the black intercooler hoses. Really happy with it overall. I plan to get a full respray at some point but that will be either later this year or sometime in 2015.
Next purchase was a roll cage powder coated in anthracite. I bought it off a member on here a while back. Ive been talking to a family friend who is a welder / fabricator and he is going to come out to the see the car and size up the job

No worries Gen, hated the standard one..................
Family friend has been over and had a look over the rollcage job and hes happy to do it at a decent hourly rate. He wants it stripped out though, headlining removed along with the fuel tank. He lives about 5 miles away so ill be stripping it and taking it to the garage for fuel tank to come out as I dont have the space to do the job here. Once its out ill tow it from garage to his place
Also managed to buy some black carpet off a member in here so ill be swapping that over when the interior goes back in.
Also eying up some cobra bucket seats and harnesses
Ended up using the light to heat the seal on floor as a hairdryer wasnt doing the job. Had to clear a section for the cage to mount and also do a quick repair on a spot of rust while im at it

Yeah tbh I cant moan too much, given the money ill be saving aswell by not having it done by a rollcage company. I got a few quotes and all were +£400

Cracked on with stripping the interior out and as most of you will know its pretty straight forward. Never removed a headlining before but it was pretty easy with two people. I think its more about getting it out straight than anything else
Im guna do some protection lining inside once its stripped (foil I think lol)
Then ill be booking it in for tank removal

Looking good mate. With cage companies you’re also paying for competition certification. I followed online competition cage installation guides and did all mine myself. I know it’s right for half the cost. And I certainly won’t need certification as I won’t be competing in it. Just track days for my own fun.
Keep up the progress mate.

Right cars been to the garage and the tank is off. As standard when doing work on anything especially these I was given a little bad news.....fuel tank is leaking corroded on the edge and it leaks more than half full
Anyway I thought I got some time to sort it so I towed the car to the welders place and left it there
I plan to under seal the last bit under the tank while its there.
I think the turn around will be 1 - 2 weeks

Tanks are cheap enough, and it's better to find out now, than in few months when it's re-fitted.
Just make sure you fully protect new one. Had mine powder coated, notorious for leaking

Cars been collected and im very happy with the roll cage job. Looks really pro I got the car towed back to the garage and dropped off there to have the fuel tank re-fitted.
Its gong to be a deep clean inside and out when its back home. Ive found some Cobra bucket seats and harnessess which will be fitted when the interior comes back together.

Interior is coming along slowly. I decided to send my grey interior plastics to the body shop after scouting various scrappies and only finding knackered sets or people wanting silly money for them.
I was after a down pipe gasket when I did the conversion but vauxhall and others wanted around £30 so I thought nahhhh
Anyway one popped up on ebay as spares which was brand new and managed to get it for £15 posted so set about sorting that
