I was impressed with the fight United showed last night TBH - folk are still absolutely deluded if they think United can compete with City just now in terms of quality and that's what shown through at the end.

He still needs a few transfer windows, nothing has changed from the day he took over.

Right from the start it was WTF is he doing.

Cleverley on the right? hes certainly not a winger, and was actually holding play up for rafael to get in front of him. WTF?

Mata out wide again, when he played so well in the central position against WH, WTF?

You need players who are going to put up a fight against a team like City, why not start Valencia who played through a whole 90mins with one eye, and played well, WTF?

Kagawa on for Cleverley at half time, another non winger in a wing position, WTF?

No one expects us to compete on quality at the moment and I disagree there was not that much fight. We should have been in their faces from the word go, not in our own 18 yard box! He can't get them fired up, he's a fanny

Well this is the man that was bothered about what reaction he'd get from the crowd if he took RVP off

A team with no fight would have been 3 down in 15 minutes, they sorted their shit out quickly in the first half because City would have pasted the majority of teams after a start like that.

The United side that started last night will bear no resemblance to the one of next season; Ferdinand is well past it, Evra will be elsewhere, Cleverley isn't good enough - just for starters.

Way i see it is if he cant get any sort of performance out these players how is he going to manage even bigger players next year

We going to see Kroos playing in goal just so he can fit him on the pitch somewhere because hes paid 50 million for him?

I have to say that ferguson is as much to blame for uniteds current position as moyes, probably more so as he walked away when it was plain for everyone to see that united had a team at its weakest for many years. A reliance on ageing players and unable to compete at the highest level in the transfer market due to the owners currently in place.

It was ferguson who hopped into bed with the owners, endorsing them to the fans, it was him who failed to replace players with adequate replacements seemingly believing the youth would eventually come good.

Ferguson was able to get the team that is playing now to raise their performances, perhaps above their natural level at times

thought there was a few flashes of how good mate could be, rooney was having spells where he really bust a gut and fellaini showed just how much he is not worth a place in the team

Fergie at least had enough about him to still churn out results even if we played badly

What else could he do? Do you go round work slagging off your boss so he hears or do you keep it to a select few?

To an extent yes, The Da Silva twins, Welbeck and even Macheda were all seen a promising prospects. Granted Macheda and Cleverley aren't showing the quality we need but I think there has been an element of we had some good talent coming through and it has back fired.

It's also worth noting that Fergie was very lucky because RVP stayed fit. Had he been out for months like he has been this year he would not IMO won the league

But then fergie would bring him off after 70 mins if that was the plan, he wouldnt have left him on because he was worried about the fans

Fergie knew what he was doing when he retired. He was too old to do what he has done in the past and start again. Which is exactly what needs to happen with that team. I actually laugh reading the comments from the United fans on here about Moyes.

It's ok saying it makes you laugh reading comments on here but what have you seen Moyes do during the last how ever many months it is that makes you think he is the right man? I've seen crap tactics, playing our record signing out of position, lack of motivation in the players amongst other things. None of those things inspire me with any confidence.

You forgot leaving Kagawa on the bench and only giving him 5-10minutes game time.

TBF Fergie didn't really use Kagawa to full effect either

Whilst Kagawa is a fantastic number 10 which he proved at Dortmund, he is a square peg in a round hole when Rooney, RVP and Mata are fit.

Rooney in particular is a difficult player to find a partner for as he wants to do everything and be everywhere which kills any chance of playing Mata or Kagawa off him for any extended period of time.

The Summer will prove if Moyes is any good as a manager because the deficiencies are there for everyone to see, it's up to him to buy the players to rectify it. Despite SAF being a fantastic manager he jumped ship at the end of a player 'cycle' as he called it, probably smartly.

I suppose the fans that go week in week out see things differently, there is a lot of anger from what my mate says who goes to matches towards ferguson and his whole role in the takeover and the position the club is now in.

SAF finished his first season in 11th place. He then started to build the team that he wanted which is when things changed. Moyes has no choice but to play his best players out of position if he wants them to play at all! Fergie left a team that was capable of playing a conventional 4 man midfield and not a lot else. Valencia and Young are average at best, but they get played because there aren't any alternatives except to play Mata or Kagawa there. The centre of midfield simply isn't strong enough to accommodate much else. Add a Vidal or Gundogan and that will all change. Until then, Moyes just has to make do with the tactics that this bunch can actually play.

Moyes inherited the previous champions in name only, which United fans are still struggling to come to terms with.
