I made him an offer for it and he turned me down. Asking too much IMO.

Lol I'd go ahead, but he's being a funny one about me transferring my plate with a V317. Thinks its some kind of scam. Left it in his court now because I'm almost ready to walk away and spare the hassle.

I could quite easily go round to Cheshire performance and get one off them, its only round the corner, but they're complete bellends, not paying more for something they've bought off gumtree, plus they're offering shite for my car.

their too far for me anyway, boys toys and hurst cars are both in driving distance, not been to see either so no idea what they are like to deal with

but at the same time a lot can change between now and 2 weeks time when I actually have time to go see one

boys toys overpriced and not good at getting back to you, Hurst Cars have a fairly good rep, albeit they are very expensive, i went to view one there (a white blob jdm sti) for 12.5k and first thing i noticed was a boot out of align and miscoloured bumpers, walked away.

I would be looking to buy private personally.

The "specialists" all command £2k premium in my experience for a car in the 6-8k range.

Compared to private, that is.

how much you paying for it if you don't mind me asking?

Also whats the differences between JDM and uk spec? Are insurers a bit more of a pain insuring imports?

Barnshaw had a pretty good list of JDM differences but it's pretty much:

HID lights
Red illuminated dials
DCCD (adjustable diff - also available on the widetrack UK cars)
twinscroll turbo and equal length headers (lose burble, gain spool and tuning potential)
Forged(?) crank
Rear wiper

Did I miss anything?

They fetch a premium over UK blobs of the same year, though Widetrack (2005) Blob would bring similar money as a 2003 non-widetrack JDM. The Daddy would be the JDM Widetrack, but I think you're talking £12k for one of those.

More to insure, but not much - I think I was quoted £700 (unlimited mods) for my UK vs £820 for a JDM of the same year/spec.

The tax benefit isn't really relevant on a JDM before 2006 when the higher brackets came in. If you were buying a Hawk STI - the tax on a JDM version is halved I think.

He's already said that this one isn't twin scroll, I assumed there's different ones?

But it has the sweeping dials, roof flap, wiper, etc. Assuming it's wide track because it has the rear arch trims?

Like I said, this ones got the FMIC, Syvecs ecu with antilag and launch control, 3 gauge pod, full stainless system, coilovers, 3 port boost solenoid or somethin, upgraded everything basically. What's clutch only start btw?
