but i belive we had already astablished this on page 1 of this post, but mattyb was still raving on about sommot, still don't understand the point at hand and if you read is opening post it doesn't just mention nova v corsa 2.0 16v it mentions 1.4's and 1.6's aswell, seems to me like it was a boasting session, that his bro's nova is quicker than a standard corsa valver and most other peoples cars on this site,it's just a point less thread
no mate......u carried on after page one with how a corsa looks better than a nova. I told u i agreed, but u didnt seem to read the posts carefully. This is why its now on 5 pages of pointless tatt, coz u had to get out ur pram bout it.

how are they sloppy cos there not as quick as a 2.0 16v nova, thats just because the corsa's are better built in which u mention in one of your posts this is why you don't have 2 strenthen a corsa?????????
No mate, take a totally std Nova and a totally standard corsa....not only is it fast, but better handling as well. That goes with every like for like in the nova and corsa range. Now that definately IS SLOPPY.........eg....
1.3 SR Nova would beat a 1.2 16v SXi corsa
1.4 SR Nova Would beat a 1.4 SRi/sport corsa
1.6 GTE/GSi nova would beat a 1.6 corsa GSi/Sport
Fact.
not only in straight line speed, but round corners as well. But i suppose ur gonna be foolish and say how "oh my corsa looks better and it doesnt need to be strengthened"...........coz thats the only point u've seemed to have argued in the last 5 pages.

lol.....GTE's were the quickest nova vaux ever made, as standard. Sorry geez, but its true.
I dont whether the ones i've been out in have just been rapid for some reason, but i do believe most people will back me up on this.

i believe so mate......the nova GSi's, although 10 brake down on the corsa GSi, still had same 0-60 book figures, but in reality, the nova GSi, was a little swifter.
The GTE didnt have the same economy and pollution restrictions, and was quicker.

Nova's r poop, gte's are the same as gsi's (nova's) enginewise.
In their day nova's would be faster, but most are on for 15 years old they are usually bins and fuckd

So, hang on, 3am in the morning, a deserted motorway fair enough....
Your telling me your going to accelerate and brake continuously every 15s to feel the acceleration of a car, think you'd more likely just sit at 100-120 which most cars can do these days anyway.

Yes, in theory they were identical. But realistically, the GTEs were known to be faster.

it just reminds me how slow the majority of the user's cars on here really are. I've bin out in tuned 1.6's sports, turbo SRi's etc and a few CORSA VALVERS, and it really does put em in the shade
I belive reading that above you said it really does put them in the shade?????
IT DEPENDS ON THE CONDITIONS HOW THE 0-60 WAS MEASURE LOOK AT ADAM KINDNESS'S CORSA THAT RUN'S AROUND A 14.6 QUARTEr MILE AND LIKE I SAID THE CORSA LOOKS BETTER
lets not keep comin back to looks mate, that is whole separate point that Xedos, sooty and u can start a new post about (of which i will back u all up).
AK's corsa does a 14.6. Thats fully stripped out etc and i'm sure he's had a few engine bits and bob's done has he not? This nova, at the time had a FULL interior on a totally std motor, and did the quater 0.2s quicker. I reckon thats a pretty big difference.
Matt
for the record!
My corsa Ran 14.441 at 97.x mph.... the engine was a worn c20xe with a powercap.... green cone, and a scorpion exhaust.... thats it
was - i killed it 3 weekends later
GTF with yer nova..... it would be pasted by my corsa if it was runnign 17's
two of my wheels would weigh the same as its one
(did 3 14.4's that day and about 10 14.5's)
sorry for the innacuracy mate, but i dont really keep a note of what everyone's car off here does the 1/4 mile in, i was just goin by wot others had said.
Anyway, as above, the aforementioned nova did the standing 1/4 in 14.4, totally std. Thats apart from the scorpion filter. The zaust was a little standard peice of nova crap that had been modded to fit, usin the Astra manifold/down pipe. This was runnin 17"s with full interior.
I feel a corsa v nova day would be appropriate. Alot of corsa owners would get a shock.

i do agree the cars are much the same..... corsa is just a new nova..... half the bloody parts are from the nova anyway
i do not doubt this occured at all, but a STANDARD corsa 1.4 16 would not beat a decent Standard nova GSi/GTE/corsa GSi. In fact, a standard 1.4 16v would struggle to pull past decent but standard nova 1.4 SR. Although book figures would suggest otherwise, i'm talkin bout real races here.

Nova's are sh1t, yes they can go a tiny bit faster than corsa's but corsa is an alround better package.
