If Vermaelen goes how many Captains will that be that Wenger has sold in a row?

He was excellent when he stepped in last season (the season before the one that's just ended). But injury could be a concern. The fact that he's 22 though means he has time on his side. But he's like Wilshere, he's at an age where he needs games to step up a level.

yeah, I wonder whether he would be interested in potentially playing second fiddle. loan with buy option would seem most sensible

I wouldn't say overrated. Just under developed. When he burst on to the scene he looked every bit a superstar, but he hasn't progressed from there. If anything he has went backwards. Be it due to injury or something else, he hasn't been the same.

Utd won't offer lon enough contract, high enough fee nor will they swap Smalling. Quite chuffed about that tbh
