Fuel tank is mounted, the straps need tidying up, bending a bit neater and what have you, but they're nearly there
and the oil cooler is mounted, just need to rivet my funky little bracket to the top left hand side and it won't go anywhere.
the fan is in too, but now there's nowhere for the indicators to go

brackets will be powdercoated satin black, along with the oil cooler brackets. did have two fans to mount on but there isnt enough room, about 5mm short.
getting there really slowly, will more than likely spend the full day on saturday working on it to give it a good kick in the arse, will even start on the wiring! now there's an idea
cheers for doing that today robin

novaneil, been gathering parts for 18-19months now, about time i started getting bits fitted, had a good day today, cleaned out the engine room and found my missing cam cap which was a massive result as i was starting to think id need to buy a new head and start again, not good!
also had some deliveries, like the top and bottom rad hoses in blue silicone which look so much better than the old black hoses. was going to get everything in black silicone, but the blue is on the shelf at work so it makes life easier! also got my water pump blanking plate.
Mark, me and robin are going to be working on it all day saturday, hope to get exhaust manifold on etc!

We got so much done today, I'm well happy with it.
It doesn't seem like a lot as I didn't take many pics, but it's made it all feel more "car" than before.
First things first, I re made the fuel tank straps as the old ones were a bit rough
As you can see, far far better.
Then I fitted the water pump blanking plate, which was a complete twat of a job as the dry sump gubbins got in the way of the bottom bolt, meaning I had to adjust (butcher) the washer
Next, I fitted the new hoses, much better than the crappy old rubber ones
Then I got the drill out, after making a template (took me ages as I didn't want to fuck up Mark's bulkhead ) and cut 2 of the 3 holes for the dry sump tank bits to poke through.
just the big one left, but we need a hole cutter for that
Here's how it will sit inside, but the 3 bits on the top will be through the bulkhead, with the flat top sitting flush, need to make a bracket up on Saturday.
I bolted my awesome little bracket onto the side of the oil cooler too, that'll be fully secured on Saturday when we've got new bobbin mounts.
and some randoms
It's not far off, should get a lot mroe done on Saturday, with plenty of pics of course

I'll get Mark to make a list of the jobs we need to do when I'm there on Saturday. I reckon it'll be quite short TBH, and most of the stuff on there is going to be little stuff like bolting the oil cooler bracket to the front panel, there's not many big jobs left that I can think of off the top of my head really.
Would be good to have a checklist to work through anyway.
I think Jamie's car is at his mum's James, either that or in Jamie's garage.

James, We demoted jamies escort to his garage at home, itll be back soon tho as it needs finishing! any idea when you want your mapping again?
i use a powdercoaters in northampton by carlsberg, very good and excellent prices
list has one major thing on it really and thats wiring. going to make a complete loom for the car which will take the longest!
on sturday i hope to:
get the head bolted on
wire up starter alt battery etc!
finish the dry sump tank
finish the oil cooler
remount bumper for now
get the fuel system underway (need a swirl pot)
get the exhaust manifold on
get some aluminum tape to cover all the holes in the bulkhead i dont need
get the engine mount off and tidy it up a bit then bolt everything in properly
run brake lines, replace the one iv lost somewhere
get the anti roll bars back on and bolt up tie bars
get started on the main wiring loom
erm....... thats about a days work
just need to buy an idler pulley for the cambelt and thats done too. ace
also massive thanks to robin for working on the car whilst i earn money to buy stuff for it!
