is there any need for the v6 to forge it?
surely just bolt it and and get it running?
personaly i recon 1.8 small block, maybe the new style engine (like you had) z18xer with vvti 140bhp standard, and charge it

standard one on the right. for some gay reason the rod can float on the connecting pin thingy. think thats what the knocking was before it let go as i managed to find the little end off the rod on the road so i think it let go from the piston then made its was through the block. even blown the starter off the back of the engine

its supost to move - the rod holds it tight on the crank, to allow it to float
cant beleive you ceramic coating is worn so bad, seen better pistons at 70k miles!
strange where it has melted between rings
whats the piston size?
what about this - do a 1.8 get a later z18xer use the bottom, and even top too (vvti) and low comp that?
that would add power and torque instantly....
the new astra j thats coming out is going to use the 1.6 with vvti turbo...

in that case, how about it, a z18xet
get your self a z18xer,
get some forge internals, low comp build, and everything else bolts out what you already have
http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Vauxhall-Vectra-1-8-2007-Z18XER-engine-for-sale-only_W0QQitemZ300379588150QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item45f004c636
if i was to start again, it would be one of these with a supercharger bolted on it
if you dont want vvti, just use your 1.6 head,

im thinking the heads going to be shagged anyway. its just far easier for me to get a full vxr lot then i can flog the box and everything pretty much make my money back then spend that on forged bits

no spec yet not picked it up. soon as i get it and flog the bits i dont need its getting forged internals. warren- keeping standard turbo on it for now. going to make a new manifold for it once the insides are sorted out then the standard one will be up for grabs

well vxr lump no2 is now home after a 12 hour round trip to wales in the worst weather possible, including a 2 mile run/walk/fall up the motorway because we ran out of fecking petrol. was worth it all though now its time to get the plans underway
