I seem to remember this was just a base to try parts out on as it was badly hit if I'm not wrong? Is it for keeps now or are you still on the look for another shell?

Cheers lads much better having all the plastics painted up and matching than crappy faded plastic. Just need the weather to clear up so I can get the skirts on and get on with soundproofing some interior bits. Just won an epic purchase on ebay that I just couldn't pass up which I'm rather chuffed about.

Yup, Darryl's spot on. Couldn't find any decent others, all the ones I looked at were shocking underneath. This one is solid underneath so figured I may as well keep it and try sort out the bodywork y'know. Besides, I know the history of this one, I know the engine is sound and such, will probably work out better in the long run.

Some more shitty progress. Since the weather's been nice I thought I'd crack on with soundproofing the doors as Dan had some spare from when he did his door and boot builds.

Fitted the black inner door handles that I've had for a while. The old grey ones were the only original grey plastic left in the interior and had been annoying me for aaaages so good to get them changed over. Also fitted one of my white led window switches, couldn't find the other two for the driver side, but I'm sure they'll turn up somewhere.

Sounds so much better now I have to admit. Will definitely be doing the rear doors and the boot when I get on to re-doing the boot build.

Some more little details done. Wired up the green LED and resistor to the boot popper switch, and also white LED's in the window switches so everything has been converted to LED illumination and matches.

You may remember me saying that the astra VXR sunvisors are slightly shorter than the corsa ones, so made up a small extension plate for the sunvisor clips. They retain the same footprint as the clip and lifts it off the headliner just enough. They keep the original mounting points too. Just need to tidy them up a bit and paint them up. Need to get some more paint as I've got a bad batch which is completely off at the minute.

Just a quick update to bring it up to date. The weather was beautiful last weekend so managed to get the steiny skirts fitted saturday for the meet on sunday, incredibly happy with them, think it finishes it off nicely and brings more depth to the sills.

Also binned off the crappy grey tailgate inner panel and made up a flat one out of some hardboard and trimmed in cream leather.

Bought some solid topmounts to replace the knackered rubber ones for MOT and they've made such a difference to the handling, feels so much more responsive with a lot more feel through the steering wheel. I 'reverse mounted' them so I didn't have to chop my turrets but it's made the car sit higher due to the shape of the topmounts, so I'll be cutting the turrets and mounting them up to maintain the lowz. MOT is this friday so hopefully it'll go through without much hassle.

Skirts look fantastic mate !! Is it not possible for the rear to go down lower on the bags ? I would of thought you'd be able to tuck rim on the rear ? New boot panel looks great too

I like all the work you've put in to this. Boot switch looks nicely integrated.

However I have to say that a shot like this:

Really makes me wish you'd put all your hard work in to 3-door.

From a mk3.5 fiesta, used the boot popper and wiring too Looks a lot better than the bulky saab ones cut into the dash I think, never seen anyone else do it like me either.

Shaun said the same at the meet, probably because I had them on before and refitting them it's not much of a big change

The rear's sat on the bumpstops on the shocks at the minute and I've cut them in half. It's pretty much at it's physical limit how it is with the arch just over the dish. I could get it lower but I'd have to start cutting and pocketing the chassis and possibly getting custom shocks made up. It may happen in the future, we'll see how crazy I end up wanting to go with it

Cheers dude. You really think so? I personally absolutely love the rear end of it, I think it seems to suit the lowness well. Then again, I've never understood the whole obsessive preference of 3 doors to 5 doors.

Cheers everyone Like I say, well chuffed with the skirts, finishes it off nicely I think.

Fucked tbh luckily it's not that noticeable. Gonna get it through MOT then re-do it, shouldn't be too hard, I made it in the first place so easily do it again. Gonna tidy a few things up while it's off too. And sell a few things.

Cheers Jordy

Well, MOT was this morning, failed on handbrake cable frayed at the guides but that was it. Also had a comment how solid it is underneath, no rot whatsoever which is nice, think I'm gonna get on to underseal it in the summer to make sure it's protected.

Went to the local motor factors to get a new cable set and was told there was 2 different types? Havent a clue which one it is so just got the most common one they sell, just hope it's the right one when I come to fit it.

So, not really much been happening. Been tinkering and making things. Fitted the solid topmounts the proper way up, cut the turrets just enough to allow them to fit. Also, while i was messing with the suspension I removed the topmount plates (essentially a disc of metal) which removed another 5mm ish of obstruction from the strut. The car is now being held up by resting axle on chassis.

Got the front bumper repaired and back on.

Made up a makeshift spark plate out of some spare galv steel. Just to see if it would be any good.

And re-fitted the OZ turbo's now summer is supposedly here

Fitment.

Aaaaaaand for your viewing pleasure and the lulz, here's a little crappy video of me throwing sparks on the way to the cinema to watch fast 6, courtesy of Dan in the lex.

Completely to my surprise It's been selected to enter the power and style awards at PVS. I was really not expecting anything to come of it but well chuffed it did get picked. Means I'm gonna have to actually give it a good detailing ready for it as it's not had a proper wash/polish/wax for aaaaaaages Gonna attempt to get other things tidied up a bit too. Fingers crossed it won't look too bad
