tonight odd and annoying update featuring an ex milkman of milk delivery status at 3am.
some home made det cans with headphones, an old jam jar and a length of string.
one ecu cable
one set of settings to work and to check the wheelspeed sensor and inputted amount of teeth, and rolling resistance were not that far out.
one old middle aged ex milkman now factory employee and a lap top and some information
and some odd laptop images. got all the gear speeds checked and adjusted from the wheelspeed sensor values. altered the boost slightly so was 0.6bar in 1st and 2nd and just under a bar in 3rd. was gripping well. maybe could have a touch more in third. the milkman acknowledged his mapping skills with a slight nod in a middle aged white gangsta sort of way. all was going grand. off to try again with touch more boost.........
then disaster struck.
not sure you cna make it out that well in the pic, but the engine is now twisted on some dodgy position, causing issues of finding 2nd, 4th and 6th gear. basically the late night diagnosis is that the rear engine mount, the black metal one is kinked and twisted etc. so nice to know my car has enough death in it to destroy a metal engine mount bracket.
winner, and loser all at once. will get new back mount from el scrapo yardo in carlisle tomorrow and plate the crap out of it so it might not kink and twist and split etc again.
all in a nights work i tell you. bloody cars.

TBH if you plate the crap out of it, you will just end up chipping your expensive china.

no not yet finished with the power. needs more fuel pumps to get a bit more from it as the one on it now is virtually maxed out for flow. sadly all the time and money is being taken up sorting out all these little lissues. engine mount will be a pain in the ass to sort today.
havent really figured out what im going to do with the fuel pump situation yet. will look at it in a month or 2 then get some more mapping done. ideally id like to change the cams for a bigger profile also. but who knows.

At least the problems come one at a time so they aren't a major head ache. Perhaps you could plate the mount sort-of like the Chris Astley kit?

I think the main thing you could do would be to brace the inside of the mount to stop it collapsing in on itself. Rather than just plating over the top of it so to speak.

Is this one of the new mounts you put on it?

no, this is the rear black metal gearbox bracket, one that attaches to the gearbox with the linkage on the top of it. thats kinked.

have you got a spacer in their nik ? if have you mounted it straight to the box and then let the rubber sit at an angle ?
know a few people who have pulled the captive nuts out of that part of the floor too

no spacer no. problem is it needs the spacer really as the solid mounts means that as it sits on a slight angle, its caused it to kink. there has been a plan hatchet involving no rear spacer. going to have a look at it in a bit after lunch.
checked the floor and the gearbox itself, as far as i can tell its just the metal mount that has gone. will see more today.
bloody cars dallas. championship football teams. its enough to drive a man back onto the herb after 6 months off, oh, it already has.

its annoying as me and my mate jimbo were making some grand progress with it. almost had 3rd gear boost set up. only needed another couple of tests. then doh, no gears.
saying that, id just get bored if there was nothing to fix.

well, off to the scrap yard for a new mount. luckily they had just taken a gearbox off a tigra so my mate slick went on the attack with spanners. got new mount. 5 quid. winner.
so off down to jdm to sort it out.
nice
very nice
along side rusty replacement
add a few plates and some welding and some strenghtening then paint the bad boy black and fit it back to the car. happy days. grand bit'o'work for a saturday evening. now just waiting on my burger meal deal and my mates kebab arriving then fix boost pipe that blew off and maybe go do a bit'o'mapping.

few more pictures
can see it there where its split itelf. winner.
sorting mount out ready for welding and plating inside. thats about it. fuck knows why nokia phones save pictures on random angles as i cant rotate the alst 2 on photobucket now as i cant find the edit thing or its not working. annoying.
some other stuff from today while we were at jdm sorting the mount.
mr jdm himself's very own mk1 escort shell. he has just began working on it really inbetween doing jobs. every time i go down he has messed on with something else. its going to be a v6 i believe with bike throttle boddies.
astra vxr engine going into a corsa c. pleasant.
