TBH I think Masch is what makes the team tick. He does all the leg work to allow the other central midfielder to not worry about defending a great deal - its why Alonso had that great season before he left. I couldnt see Parker allowing Aquilani, or Gerrard if he goes in the centre the same sort of freedom.
I do rate Parker, just not sure if he is what we need if Masch goes.

I'm resgined to Masch leaving, infact i'd say i'm happy for him to leave for the right money now as his attitude stinks (not talking about all the stuff about him not answering the phone, he's been looking for a way out for a while through his shit agent). I know we need a DM to enable freedom to other more creative players, I suppose it's all about balance. If you partner Lucas with someone else with a bit more to their game than just being 100% about breaking up play you've got the potential for both to swap and change defensive and offensive positions and therefor create more chances.

The thing is Lucas isnt a defensive midfielder, he was always a box to box player like Gerrard. And I think we saw a lot more of that last year when he played next to Masch as was allowed to do so.
As with you Id be happy to see Masch go for the right price if we get the money to spend (£20m on a forward, £10m on a replacement will do me) but Id do so with a similar sort of player.

I know he wasn't when he arrived but rafa has developed that side of his game massively. I hope as I say that roy can bring out his offensive play a bit more but he's capable of playing as a pure DM too.
You're probably right and that's probably what will happen (although I doubt we're going to get a £20m striker in unless nando is sold!). In a strange kind of way I will probably be happier if one of our best players isn't a DM as it's a massive luxury that we can't afford when we need to be strengthening in other areas.

I hope Hodgson can repeat his previous achievements at Liverpool TBH, I really do.
Preferably his 98/99 season at Blackburn.

So much for his wife not being happy in Manchester so he was going to have to leave to play in Spain.

Vidic is as good as gone though so you'll need a central defender as druggie sicknote won't play much again.

Going to need someone to replace Rooney when he goes to RM though.
He will be signing extension soon too.

Riera gone, rumoured its £3.5m upfront rising to £5.5m. Plus a big sell on clause as he is bound to head back to Spain soon.
Being linked with Marcel Jansen for the LB position - would be v.happy with that.

Where do they get that from He's not going to want to tarnish his career. He's played for some of the greatest clubs in the world.
