A bit of revving won't harm the engine as its not technically under load.

The engine doesn't go under much load if there is no gear engaged.

its not that, if the bore has been honed it wont of married with the rings, it will be like rubbing 2 pieces of sand paper together at the moment and could do serious damage as more friction is made and could damage the engine than its worth, you need to let it run in so the rings and bore find its own keyway to make the bore tight but smooth, for maximum compression!!

There are many different opinions on that matter, some believe that a quick but harsh run in gives you more power.

agreed!!!
as doin it quicker and harsher with non synthetic oil will run the engine in quicker as the non synthetic will let the rings and bore rub together with no resistance,
its all abit of a mystery but doin it the quick way can cost alot of money sometimes!! when runing iot in slowly on some shit oil will praps do the same thing but with out the risk!!

Yeah agree with Torsa, run it in slowly for a bit then start giving it a little boost.
