I'd go with heat exhaustion, we went up the day before Nic and it was fucking awful. We were just fucking about and two lads wiped out big time. That was on the blue as well.
Don't realise how much the heat can affect you.

Had some fun today - was about 26 degrees in the sun and I was riding through some fields, I needed to go up a concrete path to get onto the next trail when my rear tyre exploded! The bead failed and went with an almighty bang. I think what happened is the temperature of the concrete caused the pressure to increase in the tyre loads. I'd only done 17km on this tyre

About 17km from home Fortunately my friend came to rescue me.
Those brakes suck, they're the only disk brakes that I've come across which don't work in the wet - they need upgrading some time soon!

Luckily I've not used them in the wet yet, thanks for the heads up though!

The issue is that they've got resin pads, I can't find replacement sintered ones anywhere. I think that's deliberate though as it would bring the performance up to brakes higher up in the range.

Cycled to work this morning for the first ever.
18.5 miles, 1hr 6mins moving time according to the garmin. Such a good feeling! Came into the edge of Cambridge grinning that I'd made it :-)
Small achievements and all that!

They're Shimano BR-M446 - cheers for the heads up, will see if they do something better. I remember back in the day you could get EBC pads for loads of brakes, don't think they do them anymore

Alright chaps.
I'm going to get some kind of mountain bike on c2w. I've never had a mountain bike before, but I do a fair bit of cycling on the road. Bare with me because I know absolutely fuck all, but I guess I will take it up Delemere forest as I live local, also that fast downhill stuff looks fun and I used to race motox so I wouldn't mind a crack at that too.
Obviously budget is 1k as stipulated by c2w, and it needs to be available through Halfords.
So far I've narrowed it down to these two, I am aware that they are completely different bikes.
Voodoo Bizango
Carrera banshee X
Any advice or suggestions?

As far as I know it has to be Halfords, but they can source almost anything apparently.
