emerald k3 ecu. ecu does the boost control instead of a bleed valve or apexi. it has all same features of an apexi so might aswell let the ecu do it all.

so left a few number 11's over some country roads. got a bit lucky aswell as came flying over a small rise in the road to land at the bottom of another rise and having the anti-roll bar smash off the ground. if i didnt have it, that would have been downpipe and sump taking the knock which would have been a pretty awful mess. so thanks to the arb, saved me a bit there.
going back to this in gear boost thing. think we have hit a problem with it and we are going to play more tomorrow night. basically it cant sense what gear im in. wheelspeed sensor is from an un-driven wheel and it uses rpm and wheel speed to calculate what gear the car is in. now say im in 2nd gear doing 20mph at 7000rpm as its spinning the wheels, how is it possible its going to know what gear im in. same in 3rd, get maybe 50mph but doing 7400 on limiter. the calculation wont work it out that its in 3rd and this is why it isnt picking the change up, meaning im getting 10psi boost in all gears from a standing start.
we are going to try and cheat it and input incorrect values in the mph per rpm colum see if we can force it to see the change of gear.
failing that will have to set the boost up as boost vs throttle position which will just mean a bit more care in setting off from the line.
none of the above matters until them yoko's are on as like hell the kleber and fullrun could manage much tonight. was a lot of laughs though, apart from smashing the arb off the ground.
tomorrow update might consist of new tyres and maybe some of the in gear stuff actually working. nicely the emerald programme has a live readout for what gear it thinks your in, so just need to monitor that and away we go.
ken.

from speaking to a lot of people over the last few days. toyo's are cheaper so people buy them. local place that deals in track cars etc says they tested them both and rate the yoko's far higher than the toyo's. dont get me wrong, them toyo's were ace. ive not tried yoko's yet as obviously they not getting fitted till the morning. i will report back what i think. although its on smaller wheels now so comparrison might not be easy to judge.

Can you put a wheel speed sensor on a front wheel or maybe on the final drive somehow?

can get on on front wheel yeah as have abs rings on the cv. if it reads the speed from front wheels and calculates that vs the rpm, it will see the correct gear.
things to work on anyway. as usual.

tbh imho chip and the sidekick wouldnt want to read this thread anyway as its a car they have nothing to do with, so its not an important vehicle in the eyes of the tuning gods that they are.

so took car to work this morning and let the tyre fitters at it.
lovely. drive home consisted of 10psi boost due to the ingear thing not working correct. it griped all of 2nd gear and all of 3rd gear no problems. awesome i say indeed.
