So, as per my other thread, finally got the black dye off after using white spirit and a srubbing brush. The roof then looked horribly original:

I then set about applying the dye:

Gave it one thick coat and the 500ml bottle is almost empty:

No red calipers bit annoyed with myself for not cleaning the test patch off before applying the dye properly. It's left a dark patch

Should be able to blend it all in when I apply another coat though. Hopefully!

Is there not a lighter red you can use on top of that now? Should brighten it up I would have thought.
Looks a little purple in the pics but still looks better than the black

You should fit those wheels to see how it could look doesn't look red at all to me, but that might just be my screen.

Need to listen to me and bleach that roof, the red would then pop and be vibrant

Tax is due end of the month, so thats the priority. Still a bit worried about the wheels not fitting properly without arch work. it's not something I want to start spending silly money on.

Would be unfortunate to go to all the trouble making the car look fresh and keep those wheels on. They take your eyes off all the hard work because of the way they look

If you like the design can you not just get them refurbed in a different colour as it would complete the car

This is truely would it not absorb the bleach some what and have an effect on the final finish?

only problem with the black roof was when it faded, it looked terrible. Needs a lot of upkeep.

The good thing about it being red is if I do want it black, I don't need to spend hours cleaning it all off, can just apply the dye straight over it.

Red will fade aswell tho, then you will have silver car with a pinky roof. Just apply a coat of dye every other year and just put it down to a 2 yearly cost.

Done a quick mask up just on the seals then applied a 2nd coat earlier.

It's a very deep dark red which actually looks pretty good imo.

Will get some finished pics tomorrow, need to apply the proofer first.

Makes a right mess. Comes off easily enough though.
