I can understand Ashley's unwillingness to had him a 5 year contract. However selling our Captain and only only remaining goal scoring threat is extremely risky. Couple this with the likely departures of Enrique, Barton and possibly Jonas we are definite relegation fodder next season, our squad is paper thin as it is and selling our best players can only spell disaster!

The idea must be get in young players with smaller wages. The goals are a concern, but I'm hoping Ben Arfa is going to add goals to his game.

I'm all for developing and signing younger players players but would Carroll not fall in to that criteria. Granted we scored massively out of that deal but I still firmly believe that we will see very little of that fee reinvested in the club, maybe a token £9M-£10M fee on some overpriced foreigner in a position that we have covered and that the majority of fans will knock one out over

I agree with you about the sale of Carroll, we won't see hardly any of money imo, but stranger things have happened so we'll see. Ashley or anyone for that matter, could not turn down £35m for an unproven PL striker.
Centre mid i think we are pretty sorted tbh. It's just the wings that are a problem. Routledge is dog.

If Barton leaves we only have one proven Premier League midfielder in Tiote. Caybaye and and Ben Arfa are unknown quantities and whilst Gosling and Ferguson show promise we all know our club has a nasty habit of ruining exciting young prospects, the res of our midfield it utter dog shit.
We are pretty much a new first team away from competing consistently up the top half of the table

Supposedly West Ham are signing Ricardo Gardner on a free.
Sam raiding his former stars... good times, we'll be signing up Okocha next

I like Sam.
He may be a big fat dodgy walrus, but I prefer him over Harry any day.

Seems a decent player, for not an extortionate amount

Yes. Exactly my point why they don't have a manager. Nobody can work under those conditions.

Modric won't be at Spuds at the end of this deadline. I wonder how much he'll actually go for.

What I don't get is why does he not realise where he is going wrong. Keeps buying the players he wants rather than the manager wants and firing managers if they have one bad season. He never learns.

Will take a lot for him to stay in the PL I reckon, I think they'd take less from a european team just so he's not going to a proper rival

Yeah I can't see Spurs fans being too pleased if they let him go to Chelski.
