Enthusiasm has been down a bit for the last few days, but with the weather how it was today - I forced myself outside.
Wanted to fit my center caps, so took each wheel off and gave them a thorough clean, polish and coat of poorboys.
Old Centre cap:
New:
Beading is always good, but especially so on a wheel IMO
With the gear all out, and quite possibly my last "nice" weekend of the year with my car - I decided to give it a clean, hand polish and top-up wax to see it through a few months of potentially being stored away.
Then went to see a friend and his new purchase, veeeeeeery clean show-car standard. Previous owner had it parked on mirrors apparently.
Finished off the afternoon with a nice blast out, swatted loads of flies and took a couple of pictures.

That is like a list porn for 3cm.
Did you gently caress you car, telling her you won't leave her long and will make sure she gets a good seeing to when you return?

I'm currently trying to negotiate car stuff. My accommodation is right across the road from my main office, and the other offices will be flight+taxi anyway as they're miles apart.
If they won't hire me a car, I'm going Top Gear and buying as many cylinders as I can for the least number of dollars

Sometime in the next month, whenever the visa application goes through.
Belongs to a lad in Selby, he just bought it as a completed project.

Did Blyton at the weekend. Though favouring the smaller cars, there was an Evo 6 and a Sti Wagon (afaik) and they performed really well. You guys booked with Javelin?

Yeah booked with Javelin.
Are they running the new "Eastern Circuit" yet at Blyton? Website suggests they're looking to change the layout this spring/summer - but can't find out if they changed it or not yet.

I bought a sump baffle plate a few weeks ago, well yesterday a full baffled sump came up at a reasonable price so I bought it, and will fit that instead
Sold the plate on already, for profit too!
Deciding whether to attempt the sump swap myself, looks to be a bit awkward but not sure if I can get the car away to a garage before Blyton... Not that it's the end of the world if I don't have it on before then.
Its mainly access to bolts which makes it awkward, so may jack the car up and scout for myself and then make up my mind from there.

Meant to have the first session on Sunday but they put it up short notice for intermediate drivers only. They even offered it to us sort cheap but in te end cancelled the session as only 8 booked. Think they will kick it off next month. I would imagine you guys are doing the normal/regular/original track.

I was in my brothers Megane R26 and had a play in a mates Megane too. Hopefully get another day booked with my other brother in his R27 towards the summer. Though really I need to get rid of the barge and buy something special or keep it and buy a track car, can ne'er make my mind up!
Sure you will have a lot f fun. Blyton is a good track to just drive fast as there is no adverse camber etc to fight as it's all flat and there's plenty of run off if it goes Pete tong. The only thing that you will notice is that as the track is so narrow you end up turning in a lot later than you would expect to but that becomes second nature across the day especially with the curbs being like mountains!

Got the baffled sump home today, and a load of oil to stick in it!
Thought I'd try Fuchs, as they had a "Buy 5l and get 1l free" offer on.
The seller of the sump recommended I take the baffle out, and make sure no packing material got inside - and give it all a rinse out. So I did!
It all looks so simple Don't believe these things can go for 6-700quid new, when an OEM sump is £90
Inside there seems to be a "false floor" type arrangement, possibly part of the OEM sump design(?) which is subtly funneled down to point oil into the base.
This particular sump has got a bung welded in for a return to sump catch-can setup. I've bought a cap which will be screwed onto here with PTFE tape until I've got a catch can sorted out.
Decided to NOT fit this myself, my back still hurts from a month ago when I was scrabbling around under the car sorting my gear linkage - so will have Richard Henry's do this and flush my green gunky brake fluid over the weekend.

Bit of a mixed day of phone conversations
Bad bit, that fucking sump doesn't fit Seems like my oil pickup pipe is fouling the inside of the sump. I was under the impression that there were two types of sump for this car... twinscroll and singlescroll. This is definitely a single scroll, but it would appear that different aged cars have different oil pickup pipes.
I got the call while the car was on ramps, with no sump attached. Andy (chief at Richard Henry) then said he had a sump baffle plate lying around for another customer... as it happens, that's a mate of mine and after a quick conversation with him he was happy for the plate to go on my car, as his engine rebuild is a long-term project.
So the car now has a baffle plate... back to plan A
Second phonecall I had was FINALLY regarding those KW coilovers. They're not beyond repair, but they talked through the technology changes in their units since those ones were made, and they ended up offering me a brand new set for £1100. That's about 7-800quid cheaper than retail anywhere else... so even considering the £500 I spent on the old ones... it's still marginally cheaper.
I am however going to get the old ones back, so I'll list them for spares/repairs - even though they're probably road worthy tbf.
